About this listen

Reporter, Bre Hayne, is on the hunt for a story. Finally, her big career break has fallen into her lap, and she has chance to get the scoop on one of the notoriously private shifters. Not many of them exist, but one Holt Lachlan has put an ad out for a mate, and Bre is up for the challenge. She’ll pretend to be interested, gather intel on him, and then scoot out of Uncertain, Texas just as fast as her old junker truck can speed her back to the news station. But the deeper into the story she goes, the more she realizes maybe Holt isn’t the one who is the monster. Maybe it’s her. Alligator shifter, Holt Lachlan, is the center of an unfortunate legend. His family name has been tarnished by these swamps for generations, and he has to go outside of the town to try and find a mate. Desperate for something to occupy his inner animal, he meets up with a spunky beauty named Bre, and tells her the rules. The most important rule? Pretend he’s normal. Ignore the growling, don’t pay attention to his eye color, and definitely don’t go anywhere near the waters of Uncertain’s swamp at night. He’s protective of his territory, but the more he gets to know the bold and beguiling woman who has answered his ad, the more he thinks she just might survive his dark secrets…but will he survive hers? Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences. Fantasy Paranormal Paranormal Romance Romance Fiction Shifter

Started in Damon’s mountains series was hesitant because I wasn’t sure if I’d like them as much but good gosh I sure do, I recommend these to every person who asks for good books to read!

I was unsure about this but it is really good

I wasn’t sure I was going to like reading a gator shifter story. This author does a good job of making me see HIM...not just his animal. It sure is different. Holt (perfect name for him) is just so gruff and brash. Then I think...hmmmm just like a gator. I’m entranced by them BUT don’t get too close. Then Bre comes along and she is feisty and takes no crap from him. This makes for some fun scenes like:

His first compliment....Hahahahaha! So NOT nice! Then when she completely changes her appearance to mesh with “swamp Code”...OMg I thought he was going to have a coronary!!

Or...I loved when she got excited about him holding her hand. Because he wasn’t grimacing or barfing. Hahahaha. Great line!!

Holt put an add in the newspaper to find a mate. Not one to love..just one to work and that he can protect. I love how he thinks one way but she slowly wears him down with her actions. He was flabbergasted when she defended him in the bar. I think that’s why he danced with her. Even that was awesome! Until he became gator-gruff again.

This turned out much better than I expected. Another hit for this author who went out on a limb with this story.
