Reverend Rock Clark is the middle-aged preacher of the Presbyterian Church in town and has made peace with the fact that he is "unlucky in love" and will always be a bachelor. He's become quite comfortably settled in his life, but suddenly a serious car accident involving a mysterious young woman and her daughter throws him into the role of detective. Trying to track down the father of the five-year-old child while her mother is in a coma, he enlists the help of his neighbor, Liz, an attractive widow. While searching for the child's relatives, Rock's comfortable lifestyle becomes quite uncomfortable when he stumbles into a tangled web of deceit and a case of misguided intentions.

When things finally settle down, Liz retreats to her mountain cabin when she realizes that her feelings for Rock have grown past the friendship stage. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and her absence has left him confused and baffled at how much he misses her. Will he once again let love slip through his fingers?

Faith affirming and clean

The story line was interesting with just enough twists to keep me guessing. The narrator was easy to understand and I enjoyed the book. I will be watching for more of the author’s work.

Sweet and captivating

A sweet romantic Christian mystery. I really enjoyed The Little town of park place and this book inspired me to pick up my Bible. The characters are lively and I hope there are more books in the series

Southern charm at its best

I was just captivated by Rock’s southern accent. A true gentleman, classic southern style. If you want an uplifting story about the good nature of Southern hospitality, This is a must listen. The characters are interesting and engaging. It was truly an escape from the ugliness of what our world has become, filled with scripture gives it the touch of what most long for. The strength and hope of Gods love. Anxious to listen to the next book.

Loved this! Didn’t care for the reader. Sorry. Just rather flat voice. Story made up for it!!

Very enjoyable

I felt I was sitting on the front porch right along with Rock and Liz. Descriptions were wonderful, Charters were very believable. The story and scripture were well matched. This is a great book to recommend to someone who is going through a tough time or it is just a great listen!

The setting of the story

This is not the genre of novels usually listen to, but was it was pleasant and a good way to incorporate scripture into everyday life. I will listen to more.
