About this listen

With few clues to go on and a newborn baby in tow, Kendall James sets out on a journey to find her wayward husband. What she finds when she arrives at his family’s estate, however, is a lifetime of secrets that shatter her illusions, put her life in danger, and offer her a love she never expected.

When Luke Templeton agrees to marry Kendall and claim his brother’s child as his own, he has no intention of falling in love. Of course, he doesn’t bargain on his uncontrollable attraction to Kendall or his inability to remain indifferent to her tiny son.

As Kendall hurtles headlong into danger, Luke has no choice but to follow, intent on saving her regardless of the sacrifices he must make.

Who's Your Daddy?

Sweet Sacrifices
: Gloria Davidson Marlow

This book takes the listener on a journey with Kendell, a young woman of questionable reputation. She travels to find her husband to make him take responsibility for their newborn son. Things are not what they seem. We find a murder, mysterious strangers, and romance all wrapped up in a coming of age drama. This book kept me guessing until the end.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Bob Johnson voiced the book realistically.

Excellent listen!

This book started out one way and then morphed into a seriously good mystery. So many layers; so much deception. It was delicious.

The narrator was awesome as well. Men don't always deliver believable females but that was not an issue with this listen.

In fact, the only problem I had with this listen is when the story referred to a stroller as a "pram." That was a bit of a headscratcher but it absolutely did not deter from the story.

Shades of Tara!

Shades of Tara!

There are more star-crossed lovers than Scarlett could shake a stick at in this well-narrated (by Bob Johnson) tale of twentieth century, depression-ruled, pre-war (WWII!) plantation living. A Trollope-style tangle of old families pits mother-love against social mores as Kendall, homeless, jobless, and barely one month post partum, strives to untangle her own marriage and make sense of her background. Frankly, I listened enthralled as this soap opera weaved its tangled web. Two thumbs up!

A good story.

If you put together a good Narrator with a interesting story and a great variety of characters you care about you have
a entertaining experience.

I loved it.

There are some who did not like this book and I wished that I did not read the negative reviews before I listened to it because I was expecting it to be bad and it slightly put me off but I was surprised to find that I really liked it and the author as well as the narrator had me hooked. I wanted to listen to it in one sitting.
Yes, there are somethings that I found unrealistic in my opinion but then again there are a lot of things in life that people do or say that I find really odd.
This is a romance with a murder mystery, which is full of suspense and tension.
I loved it and others might too.

Things are not as they seem

Kendall James had a tough childhood as she was brought up by a single mother with questionable morals. Her father did not acknowledge her at all. Kendall became a teacher and married the man of her dreams, only to find that he left her and their newborn without a thought. Kendall is evicted from her home and dismissed from her job as she is considered to have loose morals. She travels to her husband’s home town to confront him, only to become entangled in a web of secrets, mystery and deceits. I loved this book and as always thoroughly enjoy Bob Johnson’s narrations. I will definitely look to read more of this author.

sweet romantic suspense leaves you speechless

Kendall James has just been terminated from her teaching position because the conservative board frowns upon unwed mothers, despite her claims that she IS married. That would be because her husband, Adam, has hardly been around since they got married! Broke and homeless, Kendall decides to track down her worthless husband at the last known address that she had...when he sent her money several months ago. She is taken aback when she arrives in town, and subsequently her husband's childhood home, to discover that he is from a wealthy family...and he is already married! When Adam's mother suggests that she marry his brother, Luke,...for the sake of the baby...Kendall is incensed but grudgingly agrees. Luke Templeton is the responsible brother and has always done the right thing all of his life. He agrees to marry Kendall to give his nephew the family name. He is attracted to Kendall but is wary of her motives. But all is not well at the Templeton estate; someone wants Kendall out of the way. Further investigation reveals that Kendall is not as alone as she's always thought...as it stands, her mother was from a wealthy family but had been disowned when she refused to give up her baby. Many sordid secrets of the rich and famous are revealed...can Luke keep his wife and son safe? Is there an HEA in store for Luke and Kendall? Wonderful romantic suspense that leaves you guessing...as well as wanting to pummel Adam into the ground...lol. Narration was on point.
