Scarlett Scott
In this deliciously steamy Regency romance from USA Today bestselling author Scarlett Scott, a lady determined to restore her reputation meets her match in a seductive East End rogue she can't deny.
Dubbed 'Lady Scandal' thanks to her gossip-stirring past, Portia Fairhaven, the widowed Countess of Blakewell, is no stranger to rumors and innuendos. Although freed of her unhappy marriage, she is still forced to maintain as spotless a reputation as she can manage for the sake of her son. That is, until a desperate search for her lost half brother takes her to the darkest depths of London’s underworld and straight into the arms of one brawny, undeniably handsome East End rogue.
Wolf Sutton is also looking for a lost sibling. What the youngest brother of the notorious Suttons is not looking for, however, is a ravishing countess who tempts him beyond measure. As a partial owner of his family’s gaming hell, he spends his days making certain trouble stays far from their door. But Lady Blakewell is the sort of trouble that proves impossible to keep at bay. Or resist.
When their mutual search for answers leads them in a shocking and dangerous direction, Portia must decide if she will risk everything for love with the most unsuitable gentleman she has ever known…
Heat level: Scorching hot! Don't say you weren't warned.

That said I’m not quite sure how this book got such high ratings.
I never thought I’d be one to complain about too much steam and not enough conflict, but in this case I am. I’m not looking for gut wrenching angst, but it seems like this romance proceeded from instalust (I have no objection to that) to love to commitment with hardly a bump in the road.
I honestly think that Scarlet Scott could have removed a couple sex scenes (I vote for the last one) and used that space to develop the plot a little more.
For example, we’re never told exactly why the heroine was dubbed “Lady Scandal“ in her first season. Yes, she became pregnant out of wedlock, but according to the storyline, only her family and the seducer knew about it. In fact, the reason she was married off so quickly was to cover up the scandal.
Another thing that Ms Scott could have spent more time on was explaining why Wolf, the hero, avoided being involved with women most of his adult life. I didn’t buy the excuse that he was hurt long ago by his first love. Emotional withdrawal, OK I could see it, but retreating from women completely including physically- not convincing. Ms Scott had a great opportunity here to come up with a noble reason for Wolf’s choices. The right reason would have enhanced the story and increased the hero’s admirability rating.
And what about the Portia’s original seducer? All we know about him is that he was a friend of her brother. Didn’t he deserve his comeuppance? I would have liked to see a little more plot development in that direction culminating in a “facer” delivered by the hero. Come to think of it, her brother could have used a little roughing up, too. He basically got off scot-free, only having to give up something non-material that he didn’t value. It would have been particularly satisfying to have the heroine deliver the ‘coup de grace.’
All in all, I don’t regret using a credit on this book. But with such a talented author and the bones of a really good story, I am a little disappointed. With minimal effort on the part of the author, this book, instead of being a pleasant way to pass time while folding clothes, could have been memorable.

Timothy Campbell is a truly gifted narrator/actor. As I have said before, I heard that he was doing a live, on stage play I would be sure to buy a ticket!
