About this listen

The practice of Surya Namaskara, or sun salutations, has been handed down for thousands of years by the enlightened sages of the Vedic yogic tradition. It is considered to be a complete sadana, or practice, unto itself, as it incorporates all the aspects of a well-rounded practice: asanas, balancing of pranic or vital energy through use of breath, also known as pranayama, and meditation.

This audio has been designed to help you in your exploration and practice of sun salutations though these three aspects. Included is a short background to the practice, verbal pose-by-pose instructions that you can use, and chanted mantras for you to practice (one slow and one a little faster) with the djembe drum.

Morning Practice Before the Sun Comes Up Again

I absolutely love this audio book. I downloaded it to my iPhone and am on the mat by 6:00 a.m. I learn something more each time I listen, refining my sun salutation and going deeper into meditation. My level of concentration in studying and coping with stress has improved immensely. Her description of each move causes me to move slowly and thoroughly enjoy this dance. 50 minues of bliss. What a great find!

Buyer, be prepared

I am pretty disappointed in the writing of this book. About 20 minutes is the author chanting in Sanskrit. As a yoga instructor who was looking for another approach and to deepen my knowledge of surya namaskara, it's a huge let down. Little to no new information for me, but you should definitely prepare yourself for about 20 mins of talk and the rest chanting (with out so much of a breakdown of what is being chanted).

Descriptive of positive energetic practices

Absolutely Beautiful mantras I love that you added them in. I recently added your practice to my daily sunrise and sunset meditation and sun gazing. I have chanted these same mantras but that voice is angelic. Not like my raspy vibrations.

Good once you figure it out

I'll start with the problem: She uses the sanscrit words for poses with minimal description of the position. Hint - if someone knows that much sanscrit, they probably know sun salutations.

Good parts: Chants are beautiful and help focus while in practice.

Sterile

This is a very sterile and absent view of Sun salutation. I would like my credit back
