Acerca de esta escucha

The Lords of Creation rule the Nine Worlds through its control of the ultra-advanced technology that has permitted the colonization of the entire solar System. More gods than men, the Lords of Creation have cheated Death itself. But although they rule the solar system with their god-like scientific knowledge, there are even more powerful forces to be feared lurking out in the dark depths of space.

And when an unthinkably terrible enemy that rules a vast network of dead stars and planets comes to the Nine Worlds, it falls to them to stop it, though entire worlds may perish. But how can the Lords of Creation hope to stop the nightmarish undead monstrosities when they are bitterly divided by pride, jealousy, and mutual suspicion?

A tour de force of science fiction at its mind-blowing best, Superluminary: The Complete Trilogy consists of The Lords of Creation, book 1; The Space Vampires, book 2; and The World Armada, book 3.

This is the latest and most brilliant creation of science fiction grandmaster John C. Wright, the Dragon-award winning author of The Unwithering Realm, The Golden Age, Moth & Cobweb, and Awake in the Night Land.

I wasn't expecting what I heard. I was expecting a by the numbers scifi epic about good and bad people. Instead, I got a story that was both engaging and amazingly surprising. The narration was really great, but what was better is the story. It felt like an old story because of how the language was used, but it was also very modern. The dichotomy between life and death, living and undead, all fighting for dominance at a level of technology that plainly made everyone a god was just so much fun. I couldn't stop listening, and at the end, I was satisfied with the results. I definitely would recommend to anyone. Be sure to hang on, because the author just dumps you into this universe, and it is within the context of what is happening that you begin to understand ... which was so amazingly refreshing.

Surprising Story -- Amazing Plot

Hard science fiction where the techno babble isn't meaningless. Sometimes hard to follow the audio.

better read the listened to

this was truly hard to follow, not due to the techno babble (which never ends), but because the story progresses VERY quickly, while at the same time the dialog between characters is reminiscent of DBZ in how long they take, despite the obvious time constraints of their situation.

don't get me wrong, I have nothing against techno babble, just felt like an overused crutch to pad the word count.

overall they're pretty good. it's heavy sci-fi with kind of interesting fantasy undertones. you won't regret spending a credit on this trilogy, but i don't know if you'd be sad if you didn't go through it.

the narrator was fantastic.

summary, worth the read if you don't have anything more pressing on your list. the other reviews over hyped it IMHO.

in any case, it's far better than I can do, so take my review only as my opinion, not fact.

techno babble and faster than light story jumps

Every time you read John C Wright, you are taken on a parabolic path. The story starts expansive and you cannot imagine anything greater, but then he proceeds to rocket to greater heights and invent new fantastic mechanisms at a greater and greater rate. He is a master and this story is part of his canon.

Where does he get his fantastic stories?

While it might sound absurd to say, this book is one of the rare science-fiction novels that requires a firm grasp of science to enjoy. Sharpen your astrophysics, your post, Newtonian physics, your theology, your philosophy, your math. The conclusion is epic, but it is an extensive process to get there, the journey across galaxies and back.

A beautiful story, if your mind can handle it

If you are a fan of John C Wright, there are certain things you’ll come to expect. Super sciences. Battles of wit. Classical pulp tropes fused with philosophy, theology, and science. Small beginnings leading to epic endings. Superluminary delivers on all those, and infuses a decent helping of cosmic horror into the mix.

The narrator can chew the scenery sometimes, but overall, it’s a great listen.

Another fantastic trilogy from Wright

You will not find better science fiction than this. John C. Wright is a super heavyweight writer beyond all contestation.

The Grandmaster never misses

This is a decently written and performed space opera built around an amalgomation of Olympian mythos and undead horror. There are some "Why the heck..." moments. But, the mystery and political aspects actually keep you guessing rather than flattering the listeners' ego.

Decent Space Opera

What a fun story with HP and King vibes, quick paced and smart. Nice to hear more cosmic horror and bio hacking in the same piece

Space vampires and supernova weapons

John C Wright always delivers a well thought out world concept, unique and dense with new and unusual concepts. This series delivers a Zelaney -like story of a family each masters of a different superscience with teraformed worlds and deadly family dynamics.

over the top super science at its finest
