About this listen

Blonde. Beautiful. A loving mother.

And missing since Monday.

On a sunny morning in late September, Shannon Blaine sets off for a jog along the rural roads near her home in Lake George, New York. It’s her usual a.m. routine, her “me time” after dropping the kids off at school...except on this day, she never returns.

Is her husband lying when he says he has no clue where she is? Could Shannon have split on her own, overwhelmed by the pressures of her life? Or is she the victim of a sexual predator who had been prowling the area and snatched her before she knew what was happening?

True-crime writer Bailey Weggins, on assignment for the website Crime Beat, heads north from New York City to report on the mysterious disappearance. An anonymous tip soon leads Bailey to a grisly, bone-chilling discovery. Every town has its secrets, Bailey reminds herself, and nothing is ever as perfect as it seems. She keeps digging for answers until - when it’s almost too late - she unearths the terrifying truth.

I enjoyed the book. quite a lot of build up although the reveal left me shocked, they could have trimmed a bit out.

nice read....

No big moment, no build up, no character development. Easy to follow but the story was flat from beginning to end.

ok

Ending was disappointing. Left me wanting more details and the introduction of Derk-the army buddy. Where did that come from? Not well developed

I love the way Kate White grabs you from the beginning and keeps you engrossed until the satisfying ending.

Great story

Disappointed in how it ended. That's about all I can say without a spoiler alert.

Bad Ending

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

This story missed the mark with unnecessary explanations regarding people ie: being directed on where and what to sit on, That is a small example of the unnecessary fluff the author thought important. The performer had such an odd way of portraying men’s voices, they all sounded stoned or recovering from hangovers. The story initially had promise just didn’t deliver.

A Bit of a Disappointment

This story had me. It was great. Really from the very beginning you felt right in the middle of it.

Really good

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Very boring and drawn out story and the narrator’s voice didn’t distinguish much between the characters. If this would have been a free book, I probably wouldn’t have cared much about that.

Very boring and drawn out

The story is good, but the narrator and the excessive remarks about how great reporter she is, makes it a snooze fest. Boring and slow and painful to listen to

Snooze fest

Nice twists of phrase, like the characters mostly, but the overall story arc was not compelling.

Ok but not gripping
