About this listen

Duet audio, with a sexy French Canadian hero. (That accent!) Plus, a romantic bonus hockey story you won't want to miss...

There are 1,016 people in the freshman class at Harkness College. I can’t be the only socially awkward nerd girl virgin among them. Right?

It’s time I learn to talk to guys without blushing and stammering. So I take a confidence-building job at the student tutoring center. Twelve bucks an hour, plus human interaction. What could go wrong?

A fun-loving French Canadian hockey hunk, that’s what.

When Pepe Gerault sits down at my tutoring table, my brain shuts off and my mouth goes right into hyperdrive. Even the sound of my name on his lips - Josephine - gives me a thrill.

I want to hand him my V-card. But all I manage to hand him is…my thesaurus. And my dignity. All seems lost, until I hatch a plan to get him alone…

Bonus: Lucky Shot, a Brooklyn Bruisers story, narrated by Emma Wilder

so good

Short and sweet. I'm gonna need Patrick Zeller to do all french Canadian accents in books from now on. So so so good. And Tanya Eby did such a great job of sounding naive and delivering the funny.

And lucky shot was great. Emma was fantastic.

great audiobook

I read Studly Period in 2020 and the audiobook is even better.
Great dual narrators and I loved the fact we got a free bonus story Lucky Shot which is a prequel to Sure Shot.

Patrick Zeller was amazing! Great short story.

I adored this short story. It was so well written. I have a soft spot for the nerdy girl and the sweet jock trope and this was done to perfection. I loved both these characters. Lots of humor and just the right amount of angst. I've read the story several times and now listened to it several times too!

I absolutely adored the duet style narration and Patrick Zeller did a fantastic job with Pepe and his French Canadian accent. I'll be happily hearing his voice in my dreams. Patrick Zeller is new to me but I just added more of his titles to my wish list.

Thank you Sarina Bowen for bringing us this story from the world of your Ivy Years series and thank you for bringing it to audio as well. If Patrick Zeller inspires you to write another French Canadian hockey player as a main character, I will be first in line for that pre-order.

Loved It!

Studly Period is a wonderful novella set within the Ivy Years series. I adored the story and thought it was so cute and adorable. It was full of fluff with just enough angst to add some drama.

Short and sweet and perfect.

I have not read the series that introduces Pepe but I loved this. It was short and sweet and everything I wanted. Patrick Zeller was amazing as the accented Pepe and Tanya Eby was perfect. Now I’m on my way to listen to more hockey from Sarina Bowen.

Absolutely delightful!

I read Studly Period when it was released as an email serial and was so excited to listen to the audiobook! Tanya Eby is one of my favorite narrators, and she and Patrick Zeller were just fantastic! I love the Ivy Years series and it was fun to be back at Harkness and get to know Pepe better. The last 40 minutes or so of this audiobook is Lucky Shot, which is a prequel to the book Sure Shot. Emma Wilder was so enjoyable to listen to- this made me want to read Sure Shot again.

disappointing... I wanted to like it, but just couldn't get into it. It was a bit fluffy for me.
