About this listen
STORM OF SUSPICION: The Karen Read Murder Trials is both an electrifying, real-time courtroom thriller and the gripping personal account of author Kevin Lenihan’s detailed examination of the evidence—both known and what he’s discovered—as well as the dark rumors, courtroom bombshells, and conspiracy theories that are at the heart of two of the most explosive and controversial murder trials of the decade.
The case began in the midst of a massive snowstorm in 2022 and ended the first time in a mistrial. Now, more than two years later, it is poised to ignite in a Boston courtroom once again.
At question is whether Karen Read, a 43-year-old college professor, is responsible as charged for the cold-blooded murder of her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, a Boston police officer? Or was she framed, by the real killer—another cop—covering his tracks with the help of a corrupt law enforcement establishment?
In STORM OF SUSPICION, Lenihan, the COURT TV expert commentator in the case, breaks down the key evidence and shocking conspiracy theories from the first trial. Then he does a deep dive into how the new trial will be fought by both sides, as well as in the court of public opinion, with new revelations, unanticipated twists, and a storm of suspicion.

The 1987 murder of Lita McClinton Sullivan sent shock waves through the affluent Atlanta suburb of Buckhead, Georgia like few other crimes before it. The neighborhood, with its stately mansions and top-tier schools, was simply not the kind of place where women were gunned down in broad daylight. How many socialites had enemies so dangerous they would be murdered by a hit man pretending to deliver roses on an early winter morning?

Story
When Scott Dozier was sent to Nevada’s death row in 2007, convicted of a pair of grisly murders, he didn’t cry foul or embark upon a protracted innocence campaign. He sought instead to expedite his execution—to hasten his inevitable death. He decided he would rather face his end swiftly than die slowly in solitary confinement. In volunteering for execution, Dozier may have been unusual. But in the tortuous events that led his death date to be scheduled and rescheduled, planned and then stayed, his time on death row was anything but.

Story
More than a century ago, the new Bolshevik government began sending Soviet citizens abroad as deep-cover spies, training them to pose as foreign aristocrats, merchants, and students. Over time, this grew into the most ambitious espionage program in history. Many intelligence agencies use undercover operatives, but the KGB was the only one to go to such lengths, spending years training its spies in language and etiquette, and sending them abroad on missions that could last for decades. These spies were known as “illegals.”

Story
Brooklyn North is the true story of how four Black men were wrongfully convicted of murder—nearly all connected to a once-legendary NYPD homicide detective, Louis Scarcella. Jonathan Fleming, Sundhe Moses, Jabbar Washington, and John Bunn were among dozens of innocent New Yorkers who spent decades in prison—guilty until proven innocent. This Original documentary follows their relentless fight to unveil an insidious pattern of police and prosecutorial corruption in Brooklyn at the height of the war on drugs and a historic peak in violent crime in the 1980s and ‘90s.

Story
Houston, Texas, in the early 1970s was an exciting place—the home of NASA, the city of the future. But a string of more than two dozen missing teenage boys hinted at a dark undercurrent that would go ignored for too long. While their siblings and friends wondered where they had gone, the Houston police department dismissed them as runaways, fleeing the Vietnam draft or conservative parents, likely looking to get high and join the counterculture.

Despite knowing the case well and following Kevin on his Cottage Tales Channel and watching him on Court TV; I wondered whether reading the novel would be beneficial. However, I was interested in his writing and was hooked from the 1st Chapter. Kevin is one of the few brave souls to tell this side of the story, thank you Kevin for the Novel. Well done, I was hooked right from the 1st chapter ... it did not disappoint.

let me just say this, anyone that thought Trooper Paul was good at his job, and actually had something negative to say about ARCCA, simply should not say it out loud. I have worked with the guys from ARCCA on a case and they are the real deal. if they say it could not happen....it could not happen. Trooper Paul should be writing parking tickets and I say that honestly with the fear he showed in court, I would worry about a trooper on the road with that anxiety.
what was that?
