Female narrator - BAD

I just started listening to Freyer Barker books and love the stories. For the most part the narrators have been able to keep my interest in all the other titles I'ved listen to, but Lee LaShawn's narration makes it painful to finish this book. I don't think I'll be able to finish this audible book. Very disappointing!

Loved the story, hated the female narrator

I am always looking for my next favorite author, and Freya Barker did not disappoint. I loved this series, and I had high expectations for this one. It was a hard listen. The Male narrator was great, but The female narrator was awful. The constant start-stop of her reading and the weird way she split words made it agonizing to listen. I could not finish the audio version. I purchased the book to read it for myself. I'm so disappointed. This is an excellent book, I wish we could have a do-over and find a different female reader. Maybe the Male narrator should have read the while book.

Female Narration Was Distracting

I did enjoy Pam's story. She had been holding up everyone through this series. Pam was a tower of strength, never giving in to her own needs. I found that I admired her character and was sad at the same time. Who did Pam have to lean on, or who did Pam feel like she could lean on?

I was glad when she and Dino connected. They let each other into their lives. Dino could read Pam so well. That seemed to make their connection and chemistry jump to the forefront. There was so much going on where they both needed support. When Pam's secret was revealed, it brought me to tears.

I love the fact that these characters are more mature with "imperfect" bodies and real life issues. They aren't millionaires or billionaires and don't have millionaire/billionaire friends or distant relatives. I also liked the interaction with Dino's kids.

There was one statement that did bother me about not seeing color. Pam was proud of her color and her heritage and sharing it with Dino and his kids.

Seeing someone's color does NOT have to have negative connotations. Seeing someone's color is seeing that person in their entirety, in a positive light. Not seeing or acknowledging someone's color (which they cannot remove) tends to negate them as a person imho.

I listened to the audiobook. Even considering what I felt was an issue, don't let that keep you from reading this book.

The male narrator was fine. I found the female narrator's flow to be very choppy or uneven. There were times that the sentences would flow in context with the scene, and suddenly it would sound like she was reading one word at a time. It almost sounded as if someone was just learning to read. I originally thought it was my Audible app or the speed needed to be adjusted. It was neither of those things. I did find it to be a bit disruptive.

I did not let it keep me from enjoying the book. I was sorry to find out it was the last book in the series. I was kind of hoping Tim's brother Mark, or Matt would get their own book.

Pure joy

I loved Still Air the fourth book in the Portland Me series. So glad to know Pam’s story she is always helped abused victims. In this book her story allows her to learn to open and accept help. She and Fino are perfect together I love watching them navigate thru some tough times together. Frey Barker’s writing is amazing honesty and with characters that seem so real they could me neighbors. I am a huge fan of hers!

-Female narration disappointing in this book

I've loved the Portland, ME series. Love the author and stories and narration of Brian Rodgers thru out four books and Lorelei Avalon thru first three books. They rocked the characters in each story. Was really looking forward to Pam's low, slow sultry voice as described in previous three books, and was really disappointed with LaShawn's higher choppy voice which did NO justice to Pam's character. Because I was invested in the series, and at least Brian Rodgers was still the male narrator is the only reason I made it thru the last book. Again, Book four, Still Air with Dino & Pam's story was well done, and doesn't take away from Freya's writing. Just disappointed with the female narrator.

Great Story

Pam and Dino were a fantastic couple. I loved watching their relationship develop. Pam had so many layers to her and Dino found a way to peel each one back. I couldn’t put this down.

Better and Better

What can I say about Freya Barker’s books? They just get better and better. I can’t wait to dive into the next series head first.

All of Freya’s books are winners!

Still Air was the final book in the series. I loved the character development and the interactions within each book and between books. I felt like I knew the characters and was moved by their stories. Freya is an excellent storyteller! The narrators were also spot on! Cannot wait for more of her audible books

Super story, amazing characters

Love this book. It was just as good in audio as it was reading it for the first time.

Amazing story

Amazing story. This whole series has been amazing. Hard deep tears. Joy Very much Freya Barker at her best.
The male voice was excellent but the female voice had me quit many times and just go to reading the book instead
