Loved it... UNTIL the Epilogue :-(

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I thought this book was amazing UNTIL the end. It was cunning end BUT I shop in the romance section for suspense books because I look forward to that romantic ending after the craziness, and I had it. Before the epilogue this book had 5 starts from me. 5! but then the epilogue came on and killed off two stars.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

COMPLETELY get rid of the Epilogue.

Do you think Statistic needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

yes, but if I say why it would spoil the book for other listeners.

Suspenseful! Must listen!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the suspense of not knowing what was going to happen within the lines. It was a book that will keep you on your toes and dying to listen so find out what's next!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I wouldn't say it was just one moment! I would say it was the whole book. The author wrote a story that could happen in real life! These situations aren't heard of often but between the author and the narrator, this story has been brought to life.

My name is ......... and I am a monster!

Would you consider the audio edition of Statistic to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version and so I am unable to comment.

What other book might you compare Statistic to and why?

This book stands alone with its impact on me.

What about Kai Kennicott’s performance did you like?

I have heard other books narrated by Kai Kennicott and to be honest wasn't that impressed. But with Statistic Kai seems to have come of age. Her narration was well paced and certainly added to the intrigue of the book

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction came with the epilogue. I have listened to it a couple of times and I am still dumb founded by it.

A Fantastic Story!

This was an amazing book. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat with twists I never saw coming. The writer brought something, that could very well happen in real life to light. She wrote this story in a very believable way that makes you think twice about the reality behind online dating. The characters were likeable, relatable and believable, I couldn't help but fall in love with them. I highly recommend this book.

Disappointing & Overdone Narration

This is the story of Aurora, divorced mom of a male toddler, trying to find love again using a dating website with the moniker of Strawberry Mom.

I didn’t like this book. The choice was a bad option for my taste, unknowingly. I don’t like books with diary entries or the like. In this instance, it’s email entries on a dating website. I don’t like stories where characters read things they have written. I didn’t know this book had portions of this when I bought the book, otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased it. This book is comprised of a significant number of those entries at the start of the book, and those type entries are rarely used well in a book. It’s something easily overdone. Aurora is either talking to herself or thinking aloud or reading her email entries. There was no actual dialogue until approx. 20 minutes into the book.

The narrator didn’t help improve the telling of this average book. I very, very, very quickly drew tired of all of Aurora’s yawns and sighs (quite over-exaggerated by their narrator) and the placement and reading of “ha!” in her email entries which were also overdone. The narrator completely overdid many aspects of the story like when she was supposed to be Aurora’s friend, Kelly, laughing and talking while eating or saying “hell-looo!” It was HORRIBLE and chalkboard-screeching irritating. And the voice of Aurora’s son, Liam, was also unpleasant. The narrator doesn’t do a 4-year-old boy well AT ALL! It was also overdone and not natural-sounding either.

As a result, I skimmed and forwarded through much of the book. And, unfortunately, it was easy to pick up anywhere, which is telling about what type of book it is when you don’t even miss anything critical if you forward. There were sex scenes in the book between Aurora and 2 (I think) of the men she met, which also mattered little to me; that’s uncommon, generally. But they didn’t improve the book for me and were done with the same degree of average-ness as the rest of the book.

This book was hard for me to finish. So, overall, a disappointing read by an author that I will not chance again and a narrator I will avoid if at all possible.
