Ember, Marley, and their Yorkie are transported to Starry Hollow, a paranormal town where witches rule and magic is as normal as pizza. Magic & Mystery, Book 2

Ember Rose, descendant of the One True Witch and New Jersey transplant, is settling into her new life in Starry Hollow, along with her precocious daughter. Someone is turning the town's most eligible bachelors into frogs, starting with her cousin Florian. Can Ember manage to catch the culprit or will these young princes of Starry Hollow be trapped as frogs forever?

Magic & Mischief, Book 3

When a handful of Starry Hollow residents experience their worst nightmares in real life, witch-in-training Ember Rose must use her budding journalist skills to figure out the who, what, why, when, where and how before it's too late. How to live with magic is all over in their lives

That this place was always about witches, vampires and werewolves and how they live there lives dealing with what was normal for them and there lives. I liked the narration of New Jersey slang since my parents came from Brooklyn New York. Listening to the narrative reminded me how my parents could turn on & off the slang of the east coast.

the fun

I loved the snark and the wise craving. I also like a main character who admits she doesnt know everything.

Starry Hallow 1-3 books

I loved the mystical mysteries. It is a cozy read and a listen. Even though I was able to read some of her books, they are not easy to come by. They are good books and wonder why they are not in book stores. But was able to find the on audiobooks so was very happy.

The accent is cringe but the story is great.

1. People from Jersey don’t say the “New.”
2. NO ONE calls it “Joisey.” No. One. At least no one from JERSEY.
3. The accent is a mix between Boston and Staten Island NOT Jersey.

But the story was great. I just hate hate hate this reader. As someone who is actually from Jersey, it was beyond awful.

captivating

love the story line and the characters. my only dislike is the almost constant use of "they said" at the end of almost every sentence.

This was a great box set. It was funny. The narrator did a great job with the characters. I hope they add to the series.

It's SO hard to listen too - ugh the accent

The story I like - it's funny and interesting. I love hearing about other characters life in one of my favorite towns but the accent is soooo cringe. It is so grating to me it's hard to listen too. I might have to change to reading them on kindle.

Narrator is awful, distracting from the story.

First of all the narrator was awful. There was this fake Boston/Southern Twang thing going on. Between that and the author bashing New Jersey I couldn't even listen to it. It was so stereotypically offensive. It's as dumb as any of the state stereotypes. I was looking for a fluffy background book to listen to while I painted and really just could not do this one.

switching to Kindle because of the reader

Look, I'm sure the actual book is great. But this reader's fake accents are so distractingly horrible I can't get past the beginning chapters of book 1. I originally thought the MC was from Boston. Then NYC. It wasn't until they said New Jersey that I figured out it was supposed to be a Jersey accent. The Southern accents seem to be a mix of South and UK to make this horrific accent that is painful to listen to. I'm going to have to reread all the chapters I listened to in Kindle because I didn't understand most of what was said, and was too distracted for the rest. I'm going to be reaching out to Audible to see if I can get my credit back.
