About this listen

The debut picture book from iconic voting rights advocate and number one New York Times best-selling author Stacey Abrams is an inspiring tale of determination, based on her own childhood.

Stacey is a little girl who loves words more than anything. She loves reading them, sounding them out, and finding comfort in them when things are hard.

But when her teacher chooses her to compete in the local spelling bee, she isn’t as excited as she thought she’d be. What if she messes up? Or worse, if she can’t bring herself to speak up, like sometimes happens when facing bullies at school?

Stacey will learn that win or lose...her words are powerful, and sometimes perseverance is the most important word of all.

Great Story!

I'm not sure how someone reviews this audiobook and gives it less than 5 stars (It's an AUDIObook. No one should expect to see the pictures.)

This book is extraordinary and it has encouraged by 8-year-old to journal her new words. The book does so much for young thinkers who are interested in engaging others and learning everything they can. You have encouraged two little girls and their parents even more than before, Ms. Abrams! Thank you!

Great book

only thing since it a audio book you don't get the pictures with the book...it's kinda pointless to not see a visual to the story book. Overall great story

Loved it!

A wonderful story on the love of words. Brought me back to my 3rd grade spelling bee that I won. My word ‘business.’
