About this listen

Get the Spirits of the Earth box set, featuring all three books in the best-selling series. It's suspense-filled post-apocalyptic fiction with a paranormal twist. Perfect for fans of Stephen King, T. W. Piperbrook, and The Walking Dead.

The world isn't how they left it. When the bunker airlocks release them after 20 years in hibernation, the survivors find a silent, barren world outside. But they are not alone. There is a presence here, alive in the dust - spirits of the earth, benevolent and malicious as they interact with the human remnant.

Milton is haunted by a violent past he's unable to escape from, despite the superhuman speed the spirits give him.

Not interested in bearing the next generation, Daiyna, equipped with night-vision, is determined to destroy the flesh-eating mutants lurking in the dark.

Luther is a man of conviction, who believes the Creator has offered humankind a second chance, yet he's uncertain they deserve it - and he's perplexed by the talons that flex out of his fingers.

Willard is a brilliant engineer-turned-soldier, who refuses to leave his bunker, afraid of becoming infected, and willing to destroy any obstacle in his way.

As their lives collide, the mysteries of this strange new world start unraveling, culminating in the ultimate life-or-death decision one survivor will make for them all.

Unique Futureist Apotolipic 3 books in 1 Tale

I purchased This Audible book and listened to it on Audible. Narrator does a good job with the characters Except to Loud on Samso 's voice causing me to have to turn volume down then when other characters talking have to raise volume back up. Extremely Frustrating!! This Story is a unique futureistic experience that could be possible.
Though I liked the Series book #1 was to me quite slow and I almost gave up, but did not and Sooo Very glad I didn't, to me book #2 much better and book #3 the conclusion was the best of them all.

Not quite, but close.

This afternoon I finished listening to the trilogy. I liked this book but I was just short of giving it 5 stars.
Pros: I very much enjoyed the narration I thought it was very easy to determine which characters' voice was being used. I felt that the vocal emotion expressed matched the mood of the character.
I thought that the characters were extremely relatable and well developed. The protagonists were flawed and the antagonists were people that you could not only dislike, but loathe.
The most important part of writing fiction is to present something that is believable to the audience I felt that Mr. Fowler delivered here.
Cons: I felt the biggest factor preventing the series from getting a 5-star review from me was the lack of adequate closure with some of the antagonists, three in particular. I had invested a lot of emotion into these characters and felt that their termination points in the story were rushed and hollow. Cumuppance, I wanted cumuppance and I felt that was missing.
Summary: I would recommend this book to friends of fiction, it was a very interesting story. The time periods jumped around quite a bit and typically I would find that distracting, but it seemed to work here. As mentioned however, there were closures that I had hoped to receive but I did not. At the end of the day, I thought the book wrapped up well and had a satisfactory ending.

Narrator was good, story not so much.

The narrator did a great job, distinct voicing and decent pacing. The story was all over the place. I really struggled finishing this one, and most of the time, I had no idea what was supposed to be going on. Trying to tell the stories of at least three different characters in each chapter and bouncing around different timelines is way too complicated to follow. I finished it, but it only because I don't like to leave a book unfinished.

Great series

Very entertaining.!!! I would definitely recommend and encourage anyone who is looking for a completely different spin on the post apocalyptic genre. This series has been captivating, exciting, and gives you a feeling during the characters adventures of “What’s going to happen?”
I really enjoyed the conclusion, not just leaving you wondering what the heck,!!
like a lot of series do. Overall, well done.!!!!

I could only make it through 4 chapters

The story is kind of interesting, but I can’t stand the characters in this. The performance was decent though.

Change humanity

I enjoy the narrative, clear and love the story. It was ashamed the engineers couch save been better people. I thought more women would have survived then just the few. Humanity has a history of destroying themselves and other cultures. It is a matter of time, either mother nature takes us out or we do it ourselves.

Thought Provoking Post-Apoc SciFantasy

I have read and listened to a lot of post-apocalyptic stories over the years and while many are enjoyable, few also provoke deep thought about man's relationship to nature, the assumptions people generally and as a whole make, how we choose our beliefs and how those beliefs change over time, and the cyclical nature of many of our paths as a species. Spirits of the Earth does all of that while telling an engaging story. The rotating POVs help to demonstrate the differences between what people believe versus the actual truth, while the very human choices and repercussions help to keep the reader/listener engaged. The time jumps used when rotating between perspectives until all the characters arrive at the same point in time help to reveal how everyone got to where they are while avoiding using talking-heads or data-dumps. The metahuman abilities some of the characters develop, especially given the origins of those abilities, provide an interesting aspect of fantasy and the decisions made in the end by those with abilities are both surprising and understandable.

I am a big fan of Steve Campbell's narration, and he does not disappoint here. Knocks it out of the park as always!

Tavor is pronounced tá-vore

You have a character who can fly and run faster then a whirlwind but can’t disarm an opponent holding you’re friends at gunpoint, I understand the trope of creating suspense with a armed standoff but seriously human reaction time is not faster then a tempest wind and for that I finished the series but I was disappointed even though there was a happy ending, Also if you blow a actual hole in the center of someone’s chest and the weapon automatically catheterizes the wound the person will still die even if you arbitrarily say that the head was missed because the heat is at the center of the chest and above that are major arteries. The mispronounced word for a rifle is forgivable but hearing it said so many times hurts!

The love between friends and the way they always believed in a higher being

This series is well worth the read. The author kept a good hold on all the characters. They were very believable. I definitely recommend this series if you like this genre
