About this listen

A Science-Terror Story by the Author of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

He was trapped on a planet of deadly dinosaurs that made Jurassic Park seem like a kid's playground! For one thing, they were smarter than the average dinosaur!

The Marshall Museum sent Gene Bishop on a simple mission to the distant world of Erigon to collect dinosaur eggs for the museum’s spectacular DinoWorld park - a scrupulous recreation of the Mesozoic Era on Earth. Bishop figured it as a quick in and out - swoop down, grab some eggs and be gone. But he figured wrong.

When one of the indigenous women, Leea, who had spent her whole life fleeing from the gigantic, macabre creatures, tried to set Bishop right, he ignored her. The Terran simply could not believe what she was trying to tell him: That there was one terrifying difference between Erigon’s dinosaurs and their extinct Earth brethren - the Erigon dinos were intelligent, and horror and destruction were sure to follow if the eggs were taken back to Earth and allowed to breed. But Bishop had too much at stake both fame and fortune to want to believe her. Some people have to learn the hard way, and for Bishop what happened next was a lesson that could cost him his life and much more.

Star Trek meets Jurassic park.

When I started listening I wasn’t sure what to think, but after the first chapter wow. Great writing and performance. Lots of twists and turns and things I would have never expected. Hope there is a sequel in the works.

Too much rambling and overwhelming amount of details

More like an encyclopaedic description of prehistoric animals and non stop rambling of these creatures’ habitat and behaviour rather than what happened to the characters of the story. Probably just not the kind of story I’m looking for.

Could have been more

I really wanted to fall into this story but it was a bit rushed and felt forced. I think it could be better if it was fleshed out.

Great premise, execution shoddy.

This would be a really great story. It has dinosaurs, space travel, and action. To me it felt like it was rushed and I got lost a few times while listening to it. I think there were some scenes where they focused too much, and other scenes that needed more attention. Overall, I like the narrator and the story has great potential.

Profit vs Life

This book was absolutely amazing it deals with exactly what the government wants to do, now resurrecting the dinosaur, thinking that it can be controlled. The characters are well developed with an equally well written story that fills you with fear as well as suspense. The story is futuristic but at the same time deals in the present. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about dinosaurs being smarter than the human race. I received this book for free upon my request, but this has nothing to do with my honest, unbiased review that I am leaving here voluntarily.

Pocahontas in Space … With Dinos

This is the third book in the Don Glut’s Pulp series; I have not read the first two of the series, but this installment does stand well on its own. That said, the story feels like is a nod to the 1960’s pulp sub-genre of SciFi (which should come as no surprise) … most especially with its overtly man’s man hero coming to the rescue of the helpless, and very beautiful, woman. From an art perspective I can appreciate the effort even as I have a hard time truly enjoying the cringe here. The basic idea is that, in a world where nobody ever watched any of the Jurassic Park movies, the people of earth want a Dinosaur park, and rather than just cloning DinoDNA, send a spaceship to a planet that has what they are looking for. While there, they rescue a sexy native woman from the jaws of death on two feet and hitch her to the expedition captain for a little play on the side.

So with a little bit of egg napping, the people get what they want … and more. There is actually a pretty interesting twist woven into the plot line that was fun to think about and probably would have worked better with a different first contact story, but it was still entertaining. At times there was a little too much focus on details (so if you are a dino loving geek add back a star).

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I gave 4 stars...but more like 3-1/2

Not bad, but not great. The story premise is interesting, but there could be more action in the book. It does get a bit bogged down with details.

I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Should be a great series

This will make an excellent series! Short listen with good narration. Very well developed storyline. Character development is excellent!
