About this listen

It's been a little over one year since the outbreak. Has it gotten better? Not really.

The zombies are slowly disappearing. But are they hibernating? Becoming inanimate? Rotting and decomposing? We don't know.

People haven't changed. Well, let me change that. They have changed. For the worse. The remaining population seems to think they are owed something. So, instead of rebuilding, they steal, kill, rape and pillage.

The world we live in now is one where you have to fight or die. There are no exceptions. The only thing we can do is continue on and try to rebuild.

I needed some fun and found it here.

Would you consider the audio edition of South of Hell to be better than the print version?

Yes. Ms Edwards textured southern performance won me right away.

What other book might you compare South of Hell to and why?

This was my first experience with this type of story.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really liked the ending. I did not expect such a beautiful, thoughtful summation.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are terrific one-liners throughout the book, including practical advice on dealing with and avoiding zombieism. Ms Edwards delivery was delightful.

Any additional comments?

I listened to this on a whim. It was just straight up fun.

An Excellent Post-Apocalyptic Story

South of Hell was an excellent take on the zombie/post apocalyptic genre. There was a solid plot with likeable, compassionate characters. I loved it. Ann Riley's a good author as this was book five in a series and I was able to jump right in. It was that good and I'd love to listen to books one through four as well.

Shannon Edwards's narration was amazing. Her southern accent was perfect for this book. She had excellent voice inflections and I'll listen to her again. She was outstanding.

Walking dead meets z nation

Story line was good moved along at a good pace. My only suggestion would be to add more detail of surroundings for the reader to picture the story better.
The performance was good, but main character a southern farm woman sounds more like a well articulated yuppie from Atlanta than a farmer.
All things considered I liked it and would read/listen to more of this series.
