A must read for the times

Interesting perspective

I am biased toward Rainn Wilson. I’m interested in almost anything that he writes, and this book is no exception. I am an atheist, but I still appreciated what he had to say in this book, which I can boil down to one phrase: caring for community beyond yourself. The way in which he talks about this concept is worth the read/listen.

a joy to listen to

full of fun facts about God and people. A revolutionary theology that can't become a sex cult easily, with no one man in charge. if he'd have used non-gendered pronouns that would have been nice but hey, can't be perfect. if you are curious. I'd say just try it. Nice intro to Bahaism, which I was curious about, and a new religion I could get behind.

Impactful and thought provoking

We do need a spiritual revolution, and Rainn’s book has given me so much to ponder on, as well as feeling that there may be a chance a true spiritual awakening can happen!!

What the world needs

The way Rainn brought all religions together and simplified it to the fact that we are one being. And how he used verses from all books to show inter connectivity was beautiful.

I loved his new idea for religion because deep down, it just asks us to be kind to each other. Well done!

Thoughtful, smart and funny!

This book aspires to turn rows into circles and create a discussion amongst people and communities to help make our world a better place. And bonus, it gives ideas on how to get there! It reads as a journey from where we are in the author’s opinion to where we will inevitably go. And the future is bright in this inevitability as long as mankind unites behind a unified effort of cooperation and integration rather than cynicism and disintegration. It is told largely through a comical lens of an inherently quirky person. Case in point, you will catch a glimpse of humanity from an on looking made up alien named Scubash!
All religions are welcome here because most start with foundational wisdom like compassion, love and selflessness that are necessary to the survival of one another and the planet. If you don’t have a religion this book offers you a made up one as a joke that revolves around God, community, compassion and well, that’s about it. If you don’t have a religion or if you don’t want one that’s fine too. This book is filled with great ideas and funny quips about how we can help ourselves and each other to reach planetary maturity. Highly recommend, enjoy the ride this book takes you on.

absolutely wonderful but also uncomfortable

Rainn Wilson narrorates his book like David Sedaris narrates his books - perfect and like no one else can.

I felt uncomfortable at different points while listening to the book. - like the ugliness that has evolved from certain human tendencies, and the list of all sorts of real present day pandemics, and the sadness of the story of the kid who was curious but then was slammed for his inquiry and in turn was captured by a smooth talking worse group. But I held on to the greater amount that this book shares, quotes and hopefulness, when that discomfort would make me feel despair for the world my children (6,6&5,) are growing up in.

Also, all my saved notes and clips have armed me (oh those fight words) with quotes, insights, lessons, and behaviors to model to them - which is a useful thing I can take away from this book. 100% worth the listen.

Insightful and funny

With humor and wit this book sheds light on a path many of us are seeking. Rainn is able through honesty and humility to raise a mirror to the reader to look inside ourselves and move our commitment t outward in actionable ways - read with a book club/group/church!
