About this listen

Her Shocking Past... Raised as the youngest daughter of the Duke of Kendal, Elizabeth learns a devastating truth on his deathbed: he wasn't her father at all. And because the Duke had no sons, his title and fortune must go to his only male heir: a distant cousin who left England for America long ago. Anticipating the man's imminent occupation of her home, Elizabeth anxiously searches for her mother's diary, and the secret of her paternity.

Her Unexpected Future... Arriving in London with his seven siblings, William Atherton intends to sell everything and return to his beloved Virginia farm, and his fiance, as quickly as possible. But as Elizabeth shows William an England he never knew, and graciously introduces his siblings to London society, it becomes clear the two are meant for each other.

Soon, Elizabeth finds herself determined to seduce the man who can save not only her family name but her heart...

ANOTHER ENJOYABLE UNSTOPPABLE ADDITION

A worthy 4 star listen for any historical/romance lover as it has a good plot, with sub plots, it's filled with loveable characters, there's sexual chemistry, surprises, villains and a sexy romance that's inevitable.... but unhappily soon becomes forbidden.

Handsome William has inherited a Dukedom and has to return from Canada but he doesn't want the title nor to be in England but, having dragged his many siblings there too, he must make the best of it for now at least. He enlists the help of beautiful Elizabeth, a very proper Lady, who's living in the Ducal house but Elizabeth, although very attracted to William, is trying to uncover some secrets that will hopefully give her much needed answers.... but, as the saying goes, 'be careful what you wish for' as once they are revealed they have devastating results.

Worth a credit? There's angst, passion, sex, secrets, lies, treachery, heartache and the main H/H are joined by an array of charming/witty/gifted characters from past books and they're all vividly described in this well written Regency romance. Great series and, IMHO, very creditworthy.

Wonderful addition to this 5 book series.

I just loved this book. It was one of my favorites so far. The story line was really good. The Elizabeth and William were both strong and very likable and had great chemistry with some hot and steamy sex to boot. Loved that he had all those siblings it added to a great story.

There are 5 books in this series they are not all listed together on audible but they are all available.
Book 1: Every Night I'm Yours
Book 2: Every Time We Kiss
Book 3: Something Scandalous
Book 4: Scandal of The Season
Book 5: One Night Scandal

Narration is good if you listen to it on 1.25 speed. Otherwise it is just too slow. I do feel like Ashford MacNab did a much better job in the Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt.

Scandalous Indeed!

I absolutely adore the series. I somehow managed to skip the first two books and read the third and I liked it so much that I purchased the last two books and read them all in three days. Now I must go back and read the first two books. The characters are built so completely that as a reader you really feel connected to them. Yes as most books go, in order to have the story last longer, the main characters always have to fight their inner feelings and go against what they truly want in order to “save” the person they love and this series is no different. To tell the truth I do not find this appealing at all in romance. Perhaps that is a personal fault of mine and not that of the author. And yes I do believe in sacrifice but once I make up my mind I dive in and don’t leave room for doubt and try never to second-guess myself. So it’s hard for me to see all the inner push and pull associated with characters in romance in general. Still, I strongly recommend at least the last three books I have read in the series regardless of my distaste for the parts mentioned.

Good Book You Will Enjoy

I enjoyed the main characters, but it got nerve racking with all the insecurities, just say what you mean. Part of the ending is sad, but greed, deceit and lies can destroy. I have listened to Ashford MacNab narrate for other books and they were ok, but not for this series.

An entertaining read

Any additional comments?

I'm reading this series out of order, starting with the fourth book and this is the third. It hasn't really made a difference in the enjoyment. I really like the story behind this one. There is an element of mystery wondering what Richard and Caroline will do to claim the title and the back story of Elizabeth's parentage. The characters are well developed and likable. There's enough heat to keep it interesting. And, the most important for me when reading romances, the heroine has a mind of her own and is not subsumed by the hero. This was an enjoyable, quick read.

Not so much.

Setting: 1817, London
Genre: Romance
I couldn't finish this one. The characters didn't interest me from the beginning. Not his hostility toward the nobility, nor her desire to find her mother's diary. I mean, the guy wants to go back to Virginia, even though his family spent the war years in Canada. And her need for the diary that may or may not exist. At least, why not tell the new Duke what she's looking for, instead of sneaking around? I guess I didn't hang around long enough to get interested in other characters or the subplots. I just couldn't, and I listened for a couple of hours.
Don't take my word on this, because others have enjoyed it. It just wasn't for me. Maybe I'll give it a full listen some day, if none of my "go to" listens call out to me.
