About this listen

During a rare white Christmas at Brambledean Court, the widow Elizabeth, Lady Overfield, defies convention by falling in love with a younger man in the latest novel in the Westcott series.

After her husband's passing, Elizabeth Overfield decides she must enter into another suitable marriage. That, however, is the last thing on her mind when she meets Colin Handrich, Lord Hodges, at the Westcott Christmas house party. She simply enjoys his company as they listen to carolers on Christmas Eve, walk home from church together on Christmas morning, and engage in a spirited snowball fight in the afternoon.

Both are surprised when their sled topples them into a snowbank and they end up sharing an unexpected kiss. They know there is no question of any relationship between them, for she is nine years older than him.

They return to London the following Season, both committed to finding other more suitable matches. Still, they agree to share one waltz at each ball they attend. This innocuous agreement proves to be one that will topple their worlds, as each dance steadily ensnares them in a romance that forces the two to question what they are willing to sacrifice for love....

Wonderful, again

So glad to read about 34-year-old Lady Elizabeth Overfield - the always kind and considerate and genuine friend to family and just about everyone else. Meeting the 9-years-younger Colin Handrich, Lord Hodges, at a Westcott Christmas house party upsets her "serene and contented " world. This HEA faces the still often unconventional dilemma of a woman possibly marrying a younger man. The "ton" would be scandalized. Always I unabashedly expect Ms. Balogh to delve deeply into her characters. I feel their concerns, doubts, fears as well as their joys, loves and triumphs. No exception with book 5. A delight. Another delight is listening to Rosalyn Landor narrating. A lovely experience.

Good part of the series

I so enjoy Rosalyn Landor’s narration and am a fan of this series. This isn’t my favorite, but it’s a good book and a great addition to the series.

Heartwarming

Elizabeth and Collin are both incredibly sweet characters and their romance makes for the most heartwarming one in this series.

enjoyed but....

as with the previous books in the series the author repeats explanations about characters over and over. Ugh! is there a word quota? But the story is good just takes forever to get there. Good narration.

Faith in God ,Tatamount ,for a Trusting Marriage

Elizabeth ,was a surprise, especially ,when it is
revealed that her late husband abusive ,drunkard .
What gets me is when she refers to why so many can
drink fine ,but ;t yet, here is small amount .that are
turned into abusive violent husbands .,When donor
,they be loving and kind.
Elizabeth finally finds a young man Collinthat loves and cares for and trusts her .That she loves and trusts
( Again there is some ,(descriptive scenes of Easter
end intimacy ) But this is not the basis of the )
westcott series.)
Elizabeth fearing that Collin ,is too young ,deserves
a younger bride. nearly marries sir Geoffry.Sir Geiffry reveals that he is just like her llate, husband .
This is at their nuptial ball ..
Will she go through the marriage ,or will she call it
off..Will Elizabeth search for someone she can trust .
Is that Collin (He is Wrens brother ) .or someone else? Will Collin find a younger bride,or is ELizabeth
the one to trust ,and love ,in marriage

Creative, Sweet love story

I looked forward to Elizabeth's story and loved the May-December romance. You really root for this couple. The first half of the book really develops the romance and makes you fall in love with them. Also, the large family dynamics are becoming more of a staple in this series and is a hoot.

Good romance

Amazing narrator. Another great book in this series. I liked the slightly older woman dynamic.
