Acerca de esta escucha

In this tour de force - part historical thriller, part modern adventure - from the New York Times best-selling author of I, Sniper, Bob Lee Swagger uncovers why WWII’s greatest sniper was erased from history…and why her disappearance still matters today.

Ludmilla "Mili" Petrova was once the most hunted woman on Earth, having raised the fury of two of the most powerful leaders on either side of World War II: Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

But Kathy Reilly of The Washington Post doesn’t know any of that when she encounters a brief mention of Mili in an old Russian propaganda magazine, and becomes interested in the story of a legendary, beautiful female sniper who seems to have vanished from history.

Reilly enlists former marine sniper Bob Lee Swagger to parse out the scarce details of Mili’s military service. The more Swagger learns about Mili’s last mission, the more he’s convinced her disappearance was no accident - but why would the Russian government go to such lengths to erase the existence of one of their own decorated soldiers? And why, when Swagger joins Kathy Reilly on a research trip to the Carpathian Mountains, is someone trying to kill them before they can find out?

As Bob Lee Swagger, "one of the finest series characters ever to grace the thriller genre, now and forever" (Providence Journal-Bulletin), races to put the pieces together, Sniper's Honor takes listeners across oceans and time in an action-packed, compulsive listen.

Hunter is a great story teller. His impeccable research allows him to weave interesting and believable settings and characters into intricate plots. Sniper’s Honor does not disappoint!

Another winner!

Hunter was my favorite author for years in my teens, as I loved the Swagger books. After discovering Stephen King and as Bob Lee got old I stopped reading Hunter for years. I decided to give him another shot with Snipers Honor and was disappointed. I came very close to returning this book because it was SOOO boring for the first half. Instead, I ended up skipping more than a few chapters that were particularly boring, and was then able to finish because it did improve a little bit in the last half. This book was definitely more of a historical Detective story then action pack Bob Lee classic. Also, as many other reviews pointed out, the plot was a little thin and just somehow it all manage to work out in the end.

Don't expect your typical Bob Lee story

I have always loved the Swagger stories, ever since I saw the Shooter movie. Of course, the books are sooooooo much better! And now, being able to listen to a great narrator makes it even better! Thank you to everyone involved!

Swagger is the best!!

Great story! An intricate plot that continues to unwind with surprises all the way through. And of course the characters are awesome, and so well developed. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Thank you Mr.Hunter.

This was another excellent and most enjoyable Bob Lee Swagger story. In this book, Bob is drawn with a journalist friend into researching the mysterious erasure from history of a female Soviet WW2 sniper. Bob travels to the border of Poland and Ukraine to investigate. The story is multi-layered as we follow two threads in the current day (one involving Bob) and one thread from 1944 (involving the sniper Ludmilla and German soldiers). As Bob follows the clues and discerns what happened back in 1944, we read the flashback of the events. In the end, we learn Ludmilla’s fate, why she was disappeared from the history books, and why it was still important to keep her disappeared even to the current day. Bob gets into a tight spot and needs to use his martial skills to escape, so there is plenty of action. A very enjoyable and riveting book. Buck Schirner has an interesting voice, and I am not sure he’d fit for every book, but he is great narrating the Swagger series.

Swagger tracks down a WW2 sniper’s story

Very clever storyline. A little too much gore. some parts dragged as when the newspaper editor went through her newsroom experience. I wanted to know what happened next.

Good storyline, plot.…

The plot is very robust but lacks a lot of glue to make the story even remotely plausible. It is a fun listen and the production value was very good but you have to take a lot of liberties with some of the plot twists.

I have loved Stephen Hunter books since my first (The Master Sniper) and I'm happy that I listen to this one but like not recommend it as an introductionto the Bob Lee Swagger anthology.

Good historical lesson and neat story but...
