About this listen

Dick Francis takes you into the thrilling world of horse racing with this gripping tale about the illusion of film and the reality of murder.

Champion jockey Robert Sherman has disappeared right before his wife was about to give birth. And right before he was sure to win the National. A coincidence?

British investigator David Cleveland doesn’t think so. He’s convinced someone made Sherman disappear, but with every answer David gets, the body count rises. And if he isn’t careful, the next body might just be his own...

Slay Ride : review

Tiny Britton does a wonderful job of pronouncing the Norwegian names & towns. Having visited. Norway in the past, it was easy to picture myself at some of the public locations.

The tale written by Dick Francis has international intrigue and a sprinkle of horse racing. Brilliant! Thank you for releasing the book.

Great story

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator is really good. It was a surprise to find out who the villain was.

Another Winner

Fascinating mystery, with twists and turns set mostly in Norway. Horse racing is more peripheral in this one than in his other novels, but the characters and plot are of Dick Francis’ usual high quality, and action is non-stop.
