About this listen

Who do you trust? Who can you depend on?

James Beltz's modern-day gunslinger, known to the rest of us as DJ Slaughter, returns in this thrilling sequel. Book one left us with a massive cliffhanger. Book two serves to answer all of your burning questions in the very first chapter. However, in a sudden, neck-snapping plot twist, you will only be left with more questions. Nice job, James. Very nice job indeed...

The first book was a break-neck pace of thrilling adventure, reminding this reviewer of the first season of the Fox TV series "24". You know, before it went downhill and got all politically correct. But I digress...this sequel only allows you enough pause to catch your breath and dive deeper into the characters you have come to love. Along with an introduction to a few more you will quickly find yourself attached to. By the time you get to the end, you will feel like you know them all personally.

But prepare yourself. The world is littered with villains. James very effectively reminds us that they can spring out at you from places you least expect. This time, DJ has met his match. And how do you beat someone that is better than you? I guess you'll have to listen to the book to find out....

Too much guilt to be credible

D J Slaughter spends way too much time wallowing in guilt to be credible as a guy who kills an uncounted number of people (maybe 30 or more in just this book - I lost count) in this book (and the first one) as easily as breathing. I
He is a good guy with a conscience which is good but his constant inner dialogue of guilt and self-recrimination doesn’t ring true. I can’t imagine Jack Reacher or Will Robie mired in that much guilt. I liked the first two books well enough and think the series has potential but I would welcome way less of the internal angst.

The narrator is a bad choice.

This is my second Slaughter novel. And possibly my last. At first I was sure it was only the narrator’s fault I wasn’t enjoying Beltz’s story, but now that I’ve slogged my way through two of his novels, I’ve decided the writing makes me feel like a teenager is the author. AND...I have to agree with the other reviewers who say the guy reading them is a bad choice.

Exciting

Sit on the edge of your seat for much of the book. Definitely root for the "good guy".

The story is great!!!

It will leave on the edge of your seat!!

There is just a lot of extra descriptions and feelings that get described that aren’t necessary. By the time you figure this out the book has you hooked.

Hello does anyone listen before it's published?

First off I want to say I like DJ but dang he was too much of a boy scout in this book. I mean make some decisions on the fly! That was my only complaint on this book. This audio version was probably the worst of all of my downloaded books. There were several repeats of not only sentences but whole paragraphs. If the make another of this series I am not positive I will purchase, even though I like the character... Do better please!!!

Unbelievable But Entertaining

Okay, but not as good as the first book. There were some places I quit paying attention and had to rewind. If there is another book in this series, I would only buy it at a discounted rate.

Slaughter White Out

This is a fantastic series. If you are looking for an action packed read that will have you on the edge if your seat. This is definitely the read for you. DJ Slaughter is trying to keep the Woman he loves and himself safe he has some bad gies after them and they will stop at nothing. I could not put this Audiobook down. Its a real page turner. And The Narrator does a fantastic job. The Author brings the surrounding and the scenes out so well that you feel like your right there urging the good gies on. I am loving the spunky Abby. This is definitely a must read series.
