About this listen
It’s Christmas! And this year, Shorty Bean will be performing in a Christmas play at her school! But what will happen after the Christmas play once all of the students are dismissed for winter break is where the real adventure begins.
Shorty Bean and her parents will go to her grandparent’s cottage for Christmas. But Shorty had no way of knowing that it would launch a series of events which would bring unexpected change as lives are forever rearranged. Shorty Bean often reflected to the last time she was at her grandparents and how the coin of fire fell from her hands into the depths of the river.
It was a dreadful day on that mountain top with White Cloud and Smarty. But anytime she is at her grandparent’s, the ordinary becomes rather extraordinary and what Shorty didn’t know was that a profound mystery had begun to stir in the deepest parts of the forest as new creatures emerged. Unexpected characters had moved into the oak tree at the cottage and under the deck where Mrs. Patty lives along with some new visitors.

Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

Story
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Good for a kids book nice moral
This one is more focused than the last with even more flights of fancy. Smarty can talk this time and has some fun quips too. Christmas at grandparents house for Shorty. Will she find the coin of fire and if she does where will she go next?
These are for kids and not super exciting to listen to as an adult, but this is better than the last.

FABULOUS CHILDRENS FANTASY!! RECOMMENDED*
FABULOUS CHILDRENS FANTASY!! RECOMMENDED*
This is a brilliant book, I think any child would love to listen to this audio version or have a parent read the kindle/book form.
It reminds me of my parents reading a chapter at each bedtime to our family of 4 kids, I hope parents are still keeping that tradition alive. I jumped onto Amazon and found there is a book before and after this one so I hope the same narrators get to do those for us on Audible too. I thoroughly enjoyed this fun tale and the talking animals.
I especially loved Shorty Beans narration done by Rosy Fife, she is either a young child or does a brilliant rendition and Benjamin fife knows how to make a story come to life with his narration.

A fun story
Shorty Bean loves Christmas time. Not only is the holiday a beautiful time, but it's also her birthday. This year, Shorty Bean is going to be in the Christmas Play at her school, which she's very excited about. Yet, it's when she and her parents go to visit her grandparents at their cottage after the Christmas Play that the real adventure begins for Shorty. Accompanied by her beloved pet Smarty, Shorty experiences a series of events, some of which bring unexpected change, that seem to tie back to the last time she was at her grandparents' cottage and lose the coin of fire.
This story was fun to listen to. The narrator did a wonderful job, along with his daughter, who provided the voice of Shorty. He really brought the story to life, especially with all the talking animals - and, really, in what other book are you going to find a talking tick. A talking tick! LOL. The various events in the story offer up light allegories to the Christian faith, in a similar vein to the Narnia books, and can be enjoyed by young children whether they are being raised in a church or not.

Fun Short Faith-Oriented Story
The Shorty Bean stories (Enchanted Coins and Coin of Fire) are short, fun and imaginative stories oriented around faith and belief, with light allegories to points of the Christian faith. Fun for young listeners with religious overtones and lessons in line with Narnia.

So so so CUTE!
I enjoyed this seasonal book, brought to life again with a father/daughter (?) duo again.
It wasn’t as cute and endearing as the first book, but sequels usually aren’t.
It’s still a lovely listen and youngsters will enjoy - their parents or caregivers would, too!
