About this listen

Paranormal meets psycho meets Goth in this story of a supernatural haunting and budding love. Living together unsupervised, five troubled teens confront demonic forces and are compelled to deal with their problems in distinctly different ways.

High school junior Ben hacks into his step-father's real estate holdings and provides rooms in an old two-story house to various outcasts: the schizophrenic kid, the angry Goth girl, and the homeless girl who worships him.

When Megan needs a place to live she comes to the rooming house with a different set of problems and the ability to confuse and attract Ben. One by one strange and mysterious occurrences stretch the teens' beliefs in the supernatural. How they deal with demons, real and imagined, has tragic as well as redeeming consequences.

pretty good

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. This book was pretty good, but i expected more sinister, more evil things to be going on based on its description. The misfit group of main characters was an interesting bunch. There were some thongs that were predictable and figured out quickly, like the twins for example. I did find myself becoming interested in how the characters story would turn out. I really wanted to know what would happen with Megan's child and her relationship with Ben. Overall I would say it was good but could have used a lot more evil stuff happening.

Interesting storyline. Though I did enjoy the book something was missing. Maybe it was the slow start, I almost gave up listening

This is the first time I've listened to John Thompson. He does a very good job reading, but needs to work on the female voices

I recieved this audio book free in exchange for an honest unbiased review

TEENAGE PARANORMAL

Even though this is a young adult/teen book it held my interest. It is about a group of teenagers living in house all have some type of issue. My favorite was Ben as he was super sensitive caring kid. Dark and disturbing I’m not sure if this is book 1 or going to be a series. Sheltered

Ben is the secret renter of a house his step dad owns.He allows teens who need a place to live to rent rooms. The group in the house are rather weird.A cutter,a young mom wanting to get custody of her baby,a nasty girl, and a few boys. The house is haunted and may have demons. This book is so slow and drawn out that I lost the thread a few times.John Thompson is a so so narrator.I hated his girl voices.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

very slow starting.

this story was not fast paced at all. I do not believe things started to pick up until about 2 hours in. it did get better though. so i am glad I stuck with it. but i will add the first few ours where VERY slow. I guess it was building back ground and development?

To me the narrator was awful with the different voices. tho when he read it was very well, but when he tried to do the female voices, not so good.

Slow Start

Any additional comments?

The story started very slowly, however it did pick up the pace. I had a hard time keeping interested and listening to the book because of the slow pace. Once it picked up, it was interesting and I enjoyed the book. The narrator did an alright job, but the book would have been better with a different narrator.

Slow start however gets interesting

The start was very slow the pace in the beginning but as things moved along things did get better. I was given this book for free by the author for an honest review. I even went in not knowing anything about it. I did like the character development that was the strongest and can see a second book. Don't want to give too many details but some things you really do not see coming even if you read what the book is about.

Slow starter

Started out pretty slow. I almost lost interest. It does pick up tho. I did enjoy the character development. The story was pretty solid, if you can wade through the beginning.

The narrator did a good job overall. Not a favorite of mine but still listenable. He really can't do female voices.
