About this listen

For Noa and Callum, being together is dangerous, even deadly. From the start, sixteen-year-old Noa senses that the mysterious transfer student to her Monterey boarding school is different. Callum unnerves and intrigues her, and even as she struggles through family tragedy, she's irresistibly drawn to him. Soon they are bound by his deepest secret: Callum is Fae, banished from another world after a loss hauntingly similar to her own.

But in Noa's world, Callum needs a special human energy, Light, to survive; his body steals it through touch - or a kiss. And Callum's not the only Fae on the hunt. When Callum is taken, Noa must decide: Will she sacrifice everything to save him? Even if it means learning their love may not be what she thought?

It's Okay

Just be aware that this is a very Young Adult book. I enjoy fantasy and sci-fi and often YA fantasy and Sci-Fi novels too. However, I couldn't finish this one. I guess I need to read reviews, rather than rely solely on the description of a book, because this book is just ... so.... Middle School. The narrator sounds like she's 13 and the writing seems to be geared towards a middle school age. I just couldn't enjoy it. I'm sure it appeals to a younger crowd.

Fantastic YA fantasy with new take on Fae

What did you love best about Shattered Blue?

There was so much I loved about Shattered Blue. The characters are endearing. The poetry written by the main character, Noa, was beautiful. She's been through some tough things recently and it's amazing to see how she copes. The romance was there but it wasn't overpowering. There was a lot of heart pounding action and some fantastic twists that left me reeling!

What does Dara Rosenberg bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Before I listened to the audio, I read the book. When I listened to the audiobook I really enjoyed Dara Rosenberg's performance and portrayal of the different characters voices.

Any additional comments?

This book has become one of my new favorites. I have read it twice already with plans to read it again in the near future. Both the paperback and audio are incredible and moving.
