About this listen

Kat achieved what she wanted. It put a target on her back. She can only hope to dodge the bullet.

Kat paid for her position with blood. Hers, and from those who stood in her way. Now, she has finally climbed to a spot where she has real power; she can improve things the way she thinks is necessary. But power isn't as simple as she thought it would be. It comes with complications and obligations that stop her from taking action and enemies that don't like to share their authority.

While Kat may be one of the strongest humans alive, physical and magical strength hasn't prepared her to deal with the politics and backstabbing that can end her life just as quickly as a knife in a back alley. With the tables turned, she has to fend off the same tactics she used to get into her position: infiltrators and samurai are gunning for Kat on the orders of her political rivals.

In a race against time, Kat must unmask her enemies before her friends and family pay the blood price

Epic

Fantastic as always, the story was great and the narrator did splendid. I can't wait to hear more of this story.

action packed

Good continuation, very fast paced .
personally I would have liked to dive more into the new tech, and to blend it even more seamlessly into the tower magic to really bring the two together in a conflagration of magitech goodness.

Back and Better than Ever

** I received an ARC from Mountaindale Press **

Performance:
Andrea Parsneau is perfect in this role. Her narration of the combat really pulls the listener in. Outside of combat it is amazing some of the things she manages to convey with her library of voices.

Story:
After the flurry of releases in 2022 I was hoping the pace of releases would keep up. Alas, it was 18 months wait for this entry and I would wait another 18 months for this quality of content (but please don't make me wait). Kat and the Crew aren't resting after all of their success, despite having the resources to do so. In fact, Kat is very much a "hands on" sort of leader and gets in plenty of trouble. The action is very consistent throughout the entire book. The dreamscape vs real world aspect really feeds into that constant action without making it tired and repetitive.

This series is in my top 3 recommendations to friends consistently and this book only serves to reinforce that ranking.

A Good Continuation

A new book featuring the characters we know and love. Nothing particularly earth shattering in this installment but we got to see the various characters grow a bit and get more flushed out.

Such a dynamite book! Play the game hard, power-up fast!

This is a dynamite addition to this series. Initially I had lost track of the storyline, I think the book could actually be improved if there had been a summary of the action to bring us up ta date, as almost 2 years had passed since Starfall bk3 was written. But I finally caught up on things... And, boy the action never stopped! Kat has crawled her way from lowly player to Shareholder in her own company by getting stronger! But she soon found that, being a shareholder isn't a bed of roses. As at least half the other members on the board wished for her death so they could get stronger within the company, and some even hired assassin to take her out! So she fought for her life during the day only barely being one step ahead, as she hung onto her company. And at night in the game world of Somnus she was dungeon diving with the team she formed in the very first book! Somnus might be a dreamscape, but the people are real and dying has consequences... and yes the more powerful you are in game, you'll find that the power transcends into the real life world. So it's best to play the game hard and power-up fast!
I also gotta say that Andrea Parsneau slam dunks this through the hoop, 'cause she's one of the top narrators out there. So grab this action-driven novel and power-up...

good continuation

picking up where 3 left off alot of things have changed but the players stay the same. I enjoyedthe story and the performance by Andrea. there are several dungeon dives that allow for growth and plenty of business intrigue and Kat learns to weild her new Shareholder status.

Great continuation

If you like the series so far, just get this one. Solid story and narration as always. Only complaint is the painfully cringy romance between Kat and Whip at the start. Nothing wrong with the romance itself, they've obviously been headed this way for a while and it makes sense. But God was it awful to listen to... why turn 2 strong, adult characters - who have spent the last years murdering people - into angsty Pre-teens afraid to say I Love You. It was honestly silly and took a lot away from Kats character. That payoff deserved better. It only last a few chapters though, and then we're back to the typical series quality
