About this listen

Five years ago, Jane helped presidential candidate’s daughter Lindsay after an unspeakable crime. Now it’s Jane who stands accused, caught at the heart of a presidential candidate’s scandal that threatens her very life.

As people in her life turn up dead, she swears she’s innocent, but forces around her continue to make her look like the betrayer - and possibly, the murderer.

Can her bodyguard, Silas, save her?

Better yet - can he trust her as the two fight an attraction that could put them both in danger?

Or is Jane not who she seems?

Good series

At first I didn’t follow at the beginning I just knew she was apart of it just a little and she just didn’t know it. I don’t think she and Silas should have gone through all that but they did come together in the end.

A gripping series with fantastic narration.

A SHAMELESS LITTLE CON
The SHAMELESS series carries on after the HARMLESS series and I love how Meli’s trilogies are interconnected, easily moving from one couple to the next. We met both the main characters for this series in the previous one and as I was listening to the last one, I knew I wanted Silas’s story.

Well Meli delivered with this thrilling story that ticks the political thriller box as well as the romantic suspense one. Silas is assigned to be Jane’s bodyguard and he’s not happy about it. Someone is out to frame her for things that have and are happening and it’s his job to keep her alive. Meli is the master of secrets and the best at drip feeding us those tiny bits of info that have you questioning who the “good” and “bad” guys are and who the main characters should and shouldn’t trust. Seriously, I love her writing. I feel like the books are just getting better and better as I go from one series to the next.

The tension between Jane and Silas is thick and they definitely have their moments. I love that we see past characters reappearing and there is just so much going on, but it all adds to the story.

Virginia is perfect as Jane. She has this desperation about her narration you just feel. I was urging her on and was swept up in her performance. This is a fantastic audiobook.

A fast paced thriller that I smashed through and of course ends with a Wait… Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat moment I did not see coming!

A SHAMELESS LITTLE LIE
Oh the hits just keep on coming. Poor Jane is put through the wringer and questioned at every step. More secrets are revealed and just when you think you have a grasp on what’s happening, Meli writes another twist into the plot. I was here for them all. Love a good twisty turny book. Jane and Silas finally seem to be on the same page and have some seriously hot moments but then once again there’s new evidence and it all goes to hell in a handbasket.

I love that Jane starts to take some control back in this middle book of this trilogy. Silas starts to show her her power within and she begins to own it. More crazy events keep happening and you can’t help but think, “Man is she ever gonna get a break?” The answer is, “NO!”

The plot is thick, the heat is thicker and the body count just keeps going up!

Virginia once again gives a stellar performance as Jane. Pulling you along on this fast paced ride. Feeling all the things, showing us all the things, her performance just had ALL THE THINGS!!! And another ending that will have you delving into the conclusion (book 3).

Pick this series if you like books with lots of plot, twists and turns and surprises that will keep you turning the pages. This is an addiction I just can’t quit!

A SHAMELESS LITTLE BETWell holy sideswiping plot twist batgirl I didn’t see THAT coming. I can always depend on Meli to sow the seeds of doubt around who the MC can trust and who’s a double-crossing-lying so-and-so. This last book in the series just turns everything upside down and I was here for all of the lies, deceit, half-truths, secrets, conspiracy theories and of course the rising body count. If a political thriller and a romantic suspense had a baby, this book would be it.

With the added bonus of getting some of Silas’s POV it all makes sense in the end. No spoilers here, in fact literally nothing about the plot. Just know this is great writing.

The narration in this series is amazing. Virginia does woman-in-the-depths-of-a-crisis so well. She brings all the emotions and gets us right inside Jane’s head. Aaron was a welcome addition to this book. He easily showed us all the sides of Silas, and I loved having that extra POV.

This is a completely addictive series that will have you gripped from start to finish.

A spine chilling romance

It’s full of intrigue, never knowing who to trust, even the person you’re having hot sex with. There was great narration by both Ms. Rose and Mr. Shedlock. This is the 4th set of trilogies with very connected characters, thou each trilogy can be read/listened to by its, they are so good you’ll want to try them all. I started at the 3rd set, not realizing the others were connected. I’ve bought the first 2 sets now & the set after this one about Lily & Duff.

Wordy

I loved the series, however , it is very wordy and philosophical, and more complex than need.

way to long

tbh i feel asleep for 5 hours and knew exactly what was going on so I never went back to listen... and then i listened to book 3 in half the time because I would skip ahead... would have been a great story if all the filler was pulled.

Not worth it

Too slow of a plot over 3 verbose books. There were just lots of nonsensical words to describe a situation. Don't waste your time.

Serious let down after the Harmless series

Book 1
While I was super excited to read this series after the previous one, this one was a continuation of the story. I liked seeing the aftermath of it all. What I didn't like was the unbelievably LONG internal monologues by the MC. It goes on and on and on. I actually ended up skipping a lot of it. The book could of and should of been shorter with the amount of actual events that took place. I was also annoyed with just how STUPID Jane was at times. Clearly her life is in danger yet she bucks everything all the time. It was too much at times. Narration is great.

Book 2
Boy oh boy. This is not turning out like the harmless series at all. It's almost like its a different writer. The female lead in this series is childish, selfish, stupid and lacking all common sense. She doesn't learn from anything that happens and does the same stupid thing over and over. The internal monologues the MC has are so long, it is WAY over the top. I am now playing at 1.45 speed and skipping entire sections without even missing a thing from the actual story. I really wanted to like this series like I did the first one, but frankly its a let down. There is very little story line and too much filler. I want to slap Jane silly the majority of the time. I am ONLY sticking it out since I spent a credit and I want a resolution to the story.

Book 3
Like I said with the previous book in this series, I am not a fan. The female lead, Jane, is just so annoying. Poor decision after poor decision. Learning NOTHING. People are literally dying all around her, everyone she comes in contact with. Yet she pushes and sneaks around to see people.... with the SAME result every. single. time. It got so old. I stopped seeing what on earth could be attractive enough for the love interest to see in her. The end comes, and there are some plot holes that are left unanswered as well. I loved the first Harmless series so much, this one fell way short. It was far to long for the little bit of stuff that happened. The internal dialogue is way too much. Narration was great. Sad though I wasted a credit on this series.

Very Disappointed With this series after Harmless

Jane was Such a pain! Super immature, uncooperative and stupid throughout the series. She made it hard for the people trying to protect her with her childlessness. It did nothing but hurt her and those around her more. Such a waste of time on this Shameless series. If you think it’s going to be anything like the Harmless series, WRONG!!!!
