About this listen

In a world shrouded in shadows, where doubt is the only weapon, can one spy expose the truth? #1 New York Times and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brad Thor delivers his latest high-octane thriller.

A mysterious cargo plane, flanked by a squadron of Russia’s most lethal fighters, has just taken off from a remote airbase. Closely monitored by the United States, no one inside the Pentagon has any idea where it’s going or what it’s carrying.

A high-level Russian defector, a walking vault of secrets that could shatter the West, seeks asylum in Norway. Across the continent, in the heart of Paris, a lone French agent stumbles upon a conspiracy so explosive it could ignite a global firestorm.

As alarm bells ring in Washington, the CIA’s most lethal weapon, Scot Harvath, is forced to choose between his conscience and his country.

You’ll be left breathless as Harvath is swept into a whirlwind of double agents, international intrigue, and heart-stopping chases.

Mt.Hood

Overall, simply badass. A great story with a fantastic narration. I would highly recommend it, especially if you like Jack Carr.

Best one yet

A pleasant surprise to have all the “thrill” without all of the gore. Mitch Rapp, James Reese, and the Gray Man can all take note.

it was not as captivating as other books in the series, but it was still enjoyable.

Brad Thor!

There are several “thriller” characters that stand apart and the authors who create them do also
Tom Clancy Jack Ryan
Vince Flynn Mitch Rapp
Mick Herron Jackson Lamb
Daniel Silva Gabriel Allon
And of course Brad Thor Scott Harvath
Another winning book in his series
Let us hope he never stops writing
I have been with him on this ride since the beginning and await a new read next summer!

Thor hammers another one

A great follow on the last. Can’t wait until the next. Hope they are not a honeymoon long.

I love the Harvath books

I loved this book. The narrator is amazing and my favorite. The story flows and is not predictable. Kept my attention and really enjoyed it

Classic Thor

He finally gets what he really wants after all these missions and we don’t know what’s next

Meandering plot and boring whodunit

This story has Scot shooting bad guys to help his girlfriend with a security problem. There's also a B-plot murder mystery in Paris which takes up about a third of the storytelling time. There's no relation between the two until the end when there's an "Oh, it was that guy..." moment that feels forced.

Scot's trajectory is haphazard as well. Typically, the Big Objective is laid out in the first act and the team slowly works to get to it. This time it's one thing, and then another slightly related, and then a detour... It feels like several stories stitched together instead of the usual SH novel.

I liked that the stakes are lower than previous stories and nothing truly outlandish or deus-ex-machina happens.

The inclusion of the Paris sub-plot takes up so much time that the other main characters (Nicholas, the familiar Carlton Group admins...) barely make appearances and don't really get their moments in the spotlight.

The narration is as good as always. Strong, different voices for the characters, although his female voices could be more distinct--they all seem to be variations of the Nicholas voice.

One of the best Harvath books so far

A true page turner with great venues, intrigue, and players at the highest levels. Started well and was a great ride with a great ending

Good “Next in Series”

Another great addition to the series! Wish it had a little more action, but still a good read.
