About this listen

From the number one international best-selling author of Holy Island and Dark Skies.

Ryan's most explosive case yet...

It's been five months since a killer walked free, and DCI Ryan is preparing to leave Newcastle to hunt him down - this time for good.

But Ryan's plans are scuppered when events take a dramatic turn and he is forced to stay and face his past one last time or watch a friend suffer the consequences.

Amid the chaos, another killer is preparing to strike. When the Tyne Bridge explodes, Ryan's team are faced with a frantic race to uncover a deadly foe who won't stop until every bridge is burned, along with everybody on it....

Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunit set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

Great book and awesome narration..

Book 8 and I loved it as much as the others. I absolutely adore Ryan and Anna and Frank and MacKenzie and I felt so bad for Jack Lowerson. I knew Jack wasn’t guilty but I would never have guessed who really did it.

This was about the murder of Detective Inspector Jennifer Lucas AND I’m so glad she was killed. She was a horrible person.

And it was about the bombings of several bridges and “The Alchemist” wanting 2 million in bit coin paid to an account that the bomber had set up. And the Bomber? That was a really big surprise.

Only a couple of kisses and no F-bomb.

As to the narrator: I doubt very much that I would enjoy these books half as much if I’d just read them. Jonathan Keeble is a phenomenal narrator when it comes to all the different voices and the emotions when he reads.

Love this Series!

I did enjoy this book the most recent in the series. I come from Newcastle so my enjoyment is enhanced because I recognize so many of the places in the books. Of course they still are great books even if you have never been there. The series has interconnected stories so I advise reading them in order. LJ Ross has created great characters and knows how to keep the tension mounting. She also is quite capable of delivering surprises you didn’t see coming.

Another triumph from LJ Ross

No spoilers! But, for me, the main big bang at the beginning of Seven Bridges made me happy!! If you want to share in my joy of reading LJ Ross's Seven Bridges, and you've not read any Ross before, at the very least you need to begin reading with Cragside, Dark Skies, and then Seven Bridges. Trust me. However, personally, I recommend that if you are new to reading LJ Ross novels, you give yourself the gift of beginning with Holy Island, her first. Then read the rest in sequence. Even though it's not absolutely necessary, it will serve your reading enjoyment well. And, LJ Ross is a master storyteller, so if you feel "let down" at any point in a story... just wait-hold on. She never disappoints and you'll enjoy the many Aha! moments she creates. Loose ends are always tied-up nicely! I've only ever eagerly, and somewhat impatiently, awaited new works from the likes of J.K. Rowling, Dan Brown, Robert Galbraith, and Mark Dawson. LJ Ross resides among that group now! Do yourself a favor--read LJ Ross!

Great plot twists

Author and narrator both deliver an excellent listen. I apparently became involved with the characters, based in my desire to smack the internal affairs person.

Series Committment

This entire series so far has been a great listen. Full on entertainment thanks to interesting characters involved in intriguing story lines and narrated by a pro. I see where number 19 has just been released and with a book a day I’ll be there in no time. Happy to look forward to hours of more fun listening.

Another Great Read in the Series

LJ Ross is unquestionably a remarkably talented author. In the age of television, Netflix and online movies it seems like the challenges of writing a book good enough to compete would be insurmountable. Yet given the choice, I continue to opt for the books in the Ryan mystery series as my first choice. Well done Ms Ross!

Series losing its quality

I have found the earlier books in this series really good -- good plots, good descriptions and really likeable characters. There's been a satisfying amount of emotion and feeling WITHOUT getting into sloppy melodrama. This one, Seven Bridges, the plot is weak - pretty much just the crude sustained threat of a terrorist with no interest but tension; sloppy emotion, no depth, interest or play in dialogue. If this had been the first in the series I'd read I wouldn't have read any more.
