Publisher's summary

An African coup may force Josh Duffy to choose between his mission and his family in this intense thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Gray Man series.

Josh Duffy and his wife Nikki are both working for the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service providing protection for diplomats in the field. They've been sent to Ghana with a team of US embassy personnel who are there to highlight American commitment to the construction of a new dam.

Since Ghana is a stable democracy, the Duffy children have come along for a short vacation. But stability proves to be fleeting when a Chinese plan to embarrass the US means the destruction of the dam. Now Josh and his protectees are on the run caught between a Chinese hit squad and a rebel army.

Nicole kicked butt

I liked that Nicole was part of the fight. Shows what a mother will do for her kids and husband Joshua. Always taking care of everyone else.

can't get past the narrator

I'm a big fan of the Green Man series and apparently bought this by mistake thinking it was one in the series. can't get past the narrator. their cadence and inflection is just not working for me. would try to get a refund on it if it wasn't such a pain in the ass

Another winner by Mark Greaney!

Sentinel starts fast and only moves faster! A blockbuster thriller about a State Department security agent and his family caught up in a violent African coup, it’s a completely engaging novel and a blast to read.

the reader

The cadence of the reader was quite annoying at times, but the story was good.

Another Excellent Greaney Novel!!!!

So, Josh Duffy has a major case of PTSD. His nightmares wake him up almost every night. His wife is aware but doesn’t like to make a big thing out of it. They’re both working for the Diplomatic Security Service in Washington DC. They’re given an assignment in Ghana which should be a routine job. It should have been a safe job. They decide to bring their children along and make it a family getaway. When there’s an assassination attempt on the President of Ghana’s life it turns out not to be so routine or safe after all. Everyone Josh is responsible for is now in grave danger. And to make matters worse he’s familiar with the terrorists/mercenaries threatening his charges, and then his children. He used to work for him. He knows how ruthless and how little regard for other people’s lives this man can have.

This book’s action begins about five hours in and after that it doesn’t let up until the end.

Adam Gold is one of my favorite narrators and I wish he would do more so I’m very happy when ever I see his name. He does an INCREDIBLE job with this book.

This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!

find another narrator.

seriously, does the narrator have to whisper at the end of every sentence? am I the only one that finds this crazily annoying? I might quit listening to the book and just go buy it and finish it the old fashioned way(actually reading it). other than that, I think it's a pretty decent story. it's well written, but poorly read.

Low key actions

Not like the Gray Man Series at all narration very bland. Not what I was expecting from this author

the story was just okay

performance was good, I like the characters. and I really liked the first sentinel book, but this story wasn't that great kind of hard to get into initially and then I thought I was pretty predictable.
