Publisher's summary

In this delightful double bill, narrator Alison Larkin's AudioFile Earphones award-winning recording of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice are followed by songs from Regency England to give listeners a sense of what after dinner family entertainment might have sounded like in Jane Austen's time.

Recorded in a drawing room not unlike the Bennets', a young lady who sounds suspiciously like Mary Bennet sings "The Lonely Ash Grove", "Ye Banks and Braes", and "Down by the Salley Gardens".

Wonderful. My two favorite Austen novels in one.

I bought this delightful recording because I love love love Alison Larkin's Austen narrations and even though I have the Complete Novels read by Alison Larkin on CD, I was going on a two day hike and I wanted to listen on my i-phone - and also I wanted to listen to the Songs from Regency England which comes at the end of this double bill. It was just wonderful. Sung by Alison Larkin with sound effects that gave me a real sense of being in a Regency living room being serenaded by one of the Bennet sisters! Bravo.

Loved the regency music throughout the audiobook

Even after having read Pride and Prejudice many times myself, this audiobook was a great way to experience one of my favourite books in a new way. Loved the regency music throughout the audiobook.

WOW, WOW, WOW!

I love Jane Austen. I have always loved Jane Austen and I always will. I also love audiobooks and Larkin's Austen narration is second to none. This double bill is delightful, charming, authentic and the songs at the end make you feel as if you are actually in Jane Austen's living room, with the characters in the stories you have just been listening to! I mean really! Alison Larkin doesn't just narrate audiobooks, she takes you to a whole new world and her narration of Austen is nothing short of brilliant. Almost 30 hours of Jane Austen followed by a unique experience being taken to a Regency sitting room and listening to the music as it might have been sung. What a treat!

Very pleased Expressively Read

This was an incredible and expressive reading of these novels with different tones for different characters, all in a believable manner that captured the mood, It was never tiring at all. I loved these plus the 3 songs at the end and the bits of songs between some chapters. This was perfection.
