A good beginning for a new series

I immediately felt I had landed in a particular place, which is a good sign. This author has a real knack for describing weather. It’s almost a character unto itself.

I’m in!

I’m in! I want to delve deeper into the Wild Fens. Flawed but compelling characters, descriptive writing, and I thought the narrator was excellent! I am looking forward to the second in the series!

Terribly flawed heroine

Freya Bloom is completely insufferable! I could care less about her “trauma” in her past, she is an unmitigated b*itch. The way she treats and challenges her supposed fellow workers is disgusting. So high and mighty. “I can’t live without culture, you farm and rural hicks!” Yuck. She ruins what could have been a good story. Why are male police officers depicted as bewitched by a pretty face when the chick’s behavior is so nasty. Good heavens! Won’t be reading anymore.

Family secrets are never really simple.

Excellent narrative performance. More twists and turns than a rollercoaster. This novel is
highly recommended for its tenacity to grab and hold fast your desire to read "just one more page" . It did not disappoint.

THERES HINTS OF PRIME SUSPECT,VERA AND EVEN CLARICE STARLING IN FREYA AND BEN IS YOURE CLASSIC OLD SCHOOL DOWN TO EARTH COPPER,THE STORY WAS GOOD SLOWLY BURNING TO AN END WITH TWISTS AND TURNED.BUT IT WAS THE CHRACTORS THAT GRABBED ME,I FOUND MYSELF ALREADY TRYING TO PICK OUT THE ACTORS AND ACTRESS THAT WOULD PLAY THEM IN TV SERIES.WE WERE GIVEN SNATCHES OF FREYAS REASONS FOR LEAVING LONDON WHICH LEFT ME WANTING TO KNOW MORE AND ALREADY THE WILL THEY WOULDNT THEY ?? BETWEEN FREYA AND BEN,BIG SHOUT TO THE READER ON THE AUDIO BOOK DID IT JUSTICE !!!

Did not like the characters or the story and did not like the dialect either. So,, I tried a new series.......and will not listen to the next book.
