Coming of age with claws.

Very entertaining. The micro-history that the author built here around ancient families of paranormal beings inhabiting an island set a dangerous backdrop for a coming of age drama. Throw in a hurricane and this is a fun tale.

The author narrator just keeps improving and clearly understands his material.
