About this listen

Rigid adherence to scientism - as opposed to a healthy respect for science - is all too prevalent in our world today. Rather than leading to a deeper understanding of our universe, this worldview actually undermines real science and marginalizes morality and religion.

In this book, celebrated philosopher J. P. Moreland exposes the self-defeating nature of scientism and equips us to recognize scientism's harmful presence in different aspects of culture, emboldening our witness to biblical Christianity and arming us with strategies for the integration of faith and science - the only feasible path to genuine knowledge.

Excellent!

Gain confidence when speaking with people who have been deceived by the “intelligencia”. The last quote was the sum of the argument. Most “Scientismists” don’t believe in the Creator YHWY of the Bible because they don’t want to. They don’t like Him.
To be able to delude oneself into condemnation is a terrifying ability of mankind...

Great!

Loved this book. laid out very simply, with easy to follow illustrations and examples. Really helped to clarify the issues of today that are so prevalent and damaging to truth and reality. Science has long overstepped it's authority, and this book exposes that bullying of Scientism as the self-defeating ideology it really is.

Excellent

Not suitable for anyone who blindly "follows the science" and says "science has spoken, case closed."

It takes a lot of faith to be an atheist

It is tragic that so many smart people are in fact idolatrous believers in a false religion — without even knowing it. It is hard to imagine rational beings not being true and honest seekers. Perhaps most are lost in the distractions and lies long known to draw men from God — “the world, the flesh, and the devil.” Just as the rich man will have a harder time getting to heaven than a camel squeezing through the eye of a needle, so the man who is rich in intelligence. He may be smart but he is not wise if he ignores the truths that science cannot answer. Without philosophy, the scientist is wasting his life.

solid

solid content but a bit disorganized. criticisms are valid, and the material is analized with accuracy. much of it is not new to me, so disorganization didn't bother me that much.
i wish he would just present some more actual examples of scientism leading to false conclusions. in terms of a pedagogical help. some people may have difficulty grasping concepts without examples. he did some, but could have added more

good read

jp moreland is a brilliant mind! it is astonishing how evil the secular world is and how important "careful thought" about competing worlds views is. jp once again disarms the atheist. thanks!

Sophisticated book and story

I have listened to book once and feel I need to listen to it a couple times. This book is not for the simple minded. Had to stop and Google a lot of the terminology used in book. The book brings up some good points between science and religion.

Technical but informative

I found this title to be very informative. However, it was quite technical at times regarding philosophical and scientific terms. I say this as a good thing. It will push you to think but not in an overwhelming way.
