Brüder Grimm:
Jakob Ludwig Karl und Wilhelm Karl Grimm sind die Brüder Grimm. Fälschlich werden die Brüder oft als "Gebrüder" betitelt. Dies meint jedoch alle Brüder einer Familie, im Falle der Grimms wären dies fünf gewesen.
Jakob Grimm wurde am 4. Januar 1785, Wilhelm am 24. Februar 1786 (beide in Hanau) geboren. Ihre Studienzeit verbrachten sie in Marburg, sie lehrten in Göttingen und Kassel, die letzten Lebensjahre verbrachten sie in Berlin. Die Sammlung "Kinder- und Hausmärchen" sind das weltweit wohl bekannteste Werk.
Die Brüder gelten jedoch auch als Begründer der Germanistik. Zudem waren sie politisch aktiv, unter anderem als Göttinger Universitätsprofessoren und Mitglieder der "Göttinger Sieben". Weitere bedeutende Arbeiten sind die "Deutsche Grammatik" sowie der Beginn des Werks "Deutsches Wörterbuch". Die Brüder kamen nur bis zum Stichwort "Frucht". Das Wörterbuch wurde 1960 von Sprachwissenschaftlern fertiggestellt. Jakob starb am 20. September 1863 in Berlin, wo auch sein Bruder am 16. Dezember 1859 verschieden war.
