About this listen

In her youth, Grace Stratton, the Duchess of Abernathy, gave her heart to Lewis Duffield, an American plantation owner. Family duty tore them apart as she was required to wed another man. Second Chance Regency Erotica

Second Chance Regency Erotica

This story offers the main characters a second chance at romance. As you might imagine, there's some initial reticence, but once things get started, it gets deliciously steamy. In fact, after the couple becomes intimate, it feels more like Regency erotica than steamy Regency, as the steamy scenes alternate with the briefest of other plot scenes. If that sounds like your cup of tea, you may enjoy this brief novella.

A bit better — if you don’t have to spend a credit

This was better than the Jane/Caleb story prior to this one. Still too insubstantial — it would take much to fill these stories out a little bit more ad make them more fulfilling and substantial. The problem with this one is that the narrator fell apart. Her narration was okay but her voices for every single character totally sucked! It sounded like a group of teenagers performing a book as a farce — like it was a big joke. Really disappointing. Interesting the way this author does this flimsy little stories. The first couple were a bit longer and more satisfying. These last two weren’t enough. Since they were in escape it was okay. I’m so sad that escape is disappearing in a month!!!

Another Great Addition to the Series

This was another great addition to the Ladies & Scoundrels series. The author did a great job providing endearing characters while the narrator did a fantastic job of breathing life into them and made this a fun listen.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: probably
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
What did I like? good pace, characters are engaging and is well written. Mature couple - story tugs at the heartstrings!

Twenty years on, Grace gets a second chance at the love she lost, but can the past be put behind them to start again?

Narrator comment: I enjoyed Barbara Rich's narration, she's done a reasonable job bringing this story to life, each character is clear and easy to distinguish. If I were being critical, her Grace sounded younger than I expected and her Lewis was a little creepy more than smooth & masculine, but neither was enough to throw me out of the story.

Sweet Second Chance Romance

This was a sweet second chance romance. Grace was forced to break Lewis' heart when her parents forced her to marry the Duke of Abernathy. Years later, after she's widowed and her daughters are grown, she meets Lewis again. Now they're both free, but a lifetime stands between them.

I really enjoyed this romance, it's the fifth in a series but I read it as a standalone. The main characters are older and with plenty of experience behind them. It has some steamy scenes and the story kept me listening. The narrator was new to me, she reads dramatically with different voices for each character. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. It was a quick listen, and a good one.

Scandalous

A 3 book set of short stories. I found the 3 stories follow the same theme in general, but are different enough to be entertaining. The characters reappear in the other stories. The narration was good.

Scandalous Liaison!

I enjoyed this second chance story! It is the fifth story in the "Ladies and Scoundrels" series and can be enjoyed as a stand alone one. There are connected characters from the previous stories in the series. It's a fairly quick read but really well written. I liked that the story was about an older couple. Grace and Lewis finally get their chance at love. Wonderful story! I enjoyed it from beginning until the very wonderful ending! The narrator of this story did a good job bringing the characters and story to life.
