The new tenant of Netherfield Park leaves Meryton without offering for Jane. He loves her but is reluctant to take on the support of her entire family in the event of Mr. Bennet's death, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are thus determined to force Jane to wed Mr. Collins. Lizzy will do anything to save Jane from such a fate! She spirits Jane away to the Gardiners in London. Determined not to let history repeat itself, they introduce themselves to new acquaintances as orphans with no other siblings. Romances flourish with Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy, but the two sisters are all too aware that the gentlemen do not know who they really are. What will happen if Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy learn the truth? Is their love strong enough to truly bloom in the soil of deception?

This is a full novel-length work of over 90,000 words.

Gripping plot

First, because of the plot and gripping emotional journey, I want to say this is worth a listen. I couldn’t give the performance more than 2 stars because it’s an AI voice. That said, I’m glad I listened, because the storyline is definitely worth the time.

I found Elizabeth’s character as strong and resourceful, in order to save Jane and herself from a life with Collins. The storyline says they actually “lie” about being orphaned. However, as Mr Bennett disowned them, I would say being orphaned is as good a description as any.

Elizabeths character is one of self preservation for herself and Jane. Therefore, some things she does seems “out of character”. However, it actually seems realistic.

I don’t want to say too much. But the story is worth a listen.

Great Story!

Very good story line. Hard to put down. Look forward to more by this authorDefinitely would recommend to others to read.

Excellent story, AI is not very good

The story is engaging and the characters well written, but you have to overlook the annoying mangling of English grammar in many places. For example, "Charlotte had continued to write to Jane and I". It's' Jane and me', and a good editor should have caught this. That's just one example.
As for the narration, the AI needs to learn to pronounce words like "pelisse" and "sweating" correctly, and pause in places that make the story interesting to listen to. A good narrator would turn this performance into a real gem that you want to listen to over and over.

Morally unsound

SPOILER warning.
This Elizabeth is a rather compulsive liar and Mr Darcy is a wimp. She withholds from him very important information about herself and is found out, after they marry, in the most embarrassing manner bringing great humiliation upon Darcy’s head. She is punished, but somehow everyone, including herself, considers that Darcy is at fault while Elizabeth is not to be blamed. In spite of this, the story is not too bad, quite readable actually although it lacks romance.

The story line kept me interested the entire book. Not too stressful, just enough angst to keep me interested

Really enjoyed the alternate story
Virtual voice not too bad. Some gaffes. Bow like bow tie not bow like a an acknowledgment. Mama like a doll would say it not mama like an upper class regency woman. Mr Berg instead of Miss de Berg. Conversation between 2 people with sentences running together from one person to the other.

Horrid mr and Mrs Bennet :)

This book was well written and it told a story of a pair of bad parents. When Jane is forced to marry mr Collins she and Elizabeth leaves for London. Great Jaff.

Elizabeth is a fibber

Elizabeth and Jane escape the awful Bennett’s and claim to be orphans. In their new identities they meet Darcy and Bingley. But they are exposed as liars. Poor Elizabeth is exiled by Darcy. It is an interesting story.

Elizabeth and Jane must flee Longbourn, build a new life in London.

Jane and Elizabeth change their names and history after Mr Bennet disowned them both. They present themselves as orphans, their estate was entailed away. They create a fiction to protect themselves and keep their status as gentlewomen. The truth will eventually out.
