About this listen

America's Queen of Suspense Mary Higgins Clark joins forces with her best-selling daughter Carol in this fast-paced novel set on a special holiday cruise that sets sail from Miami the day after Christmas.

Alvirah Meehan, the lottery winner turned amateur sleuth; recently "hitched" private detective Regan Reilly; and their husbands Willy and Jack, are guests on the Royal Mermaid's maiden voyage, the Santa Cruise. The cruise is Commodore Randolph Weed's gift to a select group of people who in the last year made the world a better place. What he doesn't know is that his ne'er-do-well nephew, Eric, has smuggled two escaping criminals on board.

As the Royal Mermaid sails through troubled waters, Alvirah and Regan uncover clues that lead them to the dangerous men who were not on the original guest list!

Filled with suspense and humor, Santa Cruise is a holiday mystery you won't want to miss. Join the Clarks as they bring this unpredictable voyage to a hair-raising and heartwarming conclusion and ring in the New Year.

I love the holiday spirit, mystery and humor

Another perfect holiday read ...

PI Regan Reilly joins with her new husband, her mother the mystery writer Nora Reilly and her husband Luke and a recent lottery winner on a free Santa Cruise. The Cruise is for people who have done good deeds thru out the year but unknown to the captain a few ' bad apples ' have also made their way on board.

The mystery is spun around a priceless antique, a complicated heist plan and two escaped convicts.

Good Santa, Bad Santa

Would you consider the audio edition of Santa Cruise to be better than the print version?

Didn't read the book just listened to it several times. Always a good relaxing time listening.

What other book might you compare Santa Cruise to and why?

Definately a different storyline and it works.

Which character – as performed by Carol Higgins Clark – was your favorite?

I love Alvira and Willie. It's sad that more book haven't included them. Alvira is feisty and quick witted. Always a pleasure when she's included in a book..

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the passenger thought she saw a ghost of a boxer who was in plaid underwear. It was very funny. And the two kids that were pest were hysterical.

Story and narration: Just ok.

This was my first Mary Higgins Clark mystery and I was surprised by its mediocrity. For something written by the Queen of Suspense, the story was quite predictable. Perhaps this was the influence of her co-author and daughter, Carol Higgins Clark. I think I need to read another Mary Higgins Clark novel not co-authored by Carol before I decide whether I am a fan. The Santa Cruise was a light read so I listened while I did other things.

Delightful holiday read!

I listen to audible to/from work so during the holidays I find one to match the season. This was an excellent choice! A fun rollercoaster of action and mystery. The cruise goers made for an excellent team of super sleuthers no villain could match. How much bad luck can one villain take. The story telling made it so fun that a holiday cruise seems like a great idea. Bon Voyage!

Higgins Clark Holidays

Where does Santa Cruise rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

top 3 including the other holiday collaborations of Mother and daughter team Mary and Carol.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes it's always great the way the higgins clarks tie it all together

Which scene was your favorite?

I thought the scenes with the captain were cute I don't want to give away too much

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

High Seas High Jinx another christmas with the Meehans and Reilly's

Any additional comments?

For being a lottery winner Alvirah sure does get herself in the middle of some unlucky situations. It is a good thing her freinds the reilly's are detectives.

I always enjoy listening to Mary Higgins Clark

Many twist in the story line using a dozen or so characters. However, the narrators readings sounded too similar to distinguish between characters.
Because I used audio.com I had to keep going back to discover who’s voice she was reciting.

Disappointed

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not really

What do you think your next listen will be?

Can't say

What didn’t you like about Carol Higgins Clark’s performance?

The narrator may be a good writer...and should stick to that. The narration is distracting.

Any additional comments?

Don't read this if you want to relax you'll be wading thrum the speaker to get yo the story.
