About this listen

In a heart-racing thriller described as Left Behind for the Hunger Games Generation, Jennie struggles to find a safe place for what’s left of her family. But it seems as though there is no place sacred, no place secure. First the aliens attacked the sun, making it dimmer, weaker, and half what it used to be. Then they attacked the water supply, killing one-third of Earth’s population with a bitter contaminate. And when they unleash a new terror on humankind, the victims will wish for death, but will not find it…

When the world shatters to pieces around her, will Jennie find the strength she needs to keep going?

Suspenseful and Gripping!

What did you love best about Sanctuary?

This has a fast moving plot and kept me hooked the whole time. I had a hard time putting it down.

Which character – as performed by Lisa Larsen – was your favorite?

I though Lisa did a great job with the main character's little brother Mickey. I had no trouble envisioning an innocent and lovable, but scared little boy in the voice she gave him.

Great Story!

I really enjoyed the story overall. The spiritual themes seemed to mix well into the story line, most of the time. This was definitely a sci-fi scenario from a woman's perspective, and I think it helped me to become a better writer.

This is definitely a good book to get women into sci-fi, since it was written from a woman's perspective, and was well written.

I am going to be requesting that the author do a sequel. I will be in-line to buy it.

Not for me

Too girlie for me (eg narrator/teen girl talking about 'hot teacher'), somewhat irreverent (eg 'oh my God') and *SPOILER ALERT* it turns out to be a zombie type story, which I generally don't like. Sentence structure/narration was annoying at points (eg. for a while it seemed like every 2nd sentence started with "Jenny did..." and somehow it irritated or distracted me. I think I must not be the target audience for this book. You may like it if you like zombie stuff.

Fast paced

Which scene was your favorite?

When Jenny and Micky found out that Hugh was still alive.

Any additional comments?

A twist on the Zombie Apocalypse and how it could begin. There are lovely characters and their plight is plausible. There are Alien visitors and the delivery system for infection of using dog like animals known as Shesa’s . The lion face and body of a dog, statues you may see in china. They bite select humans , which leads to infection ,they in turn bite other humans. Through observation of a High School Science teacher Hugh and two orphans a 19 yr old girl and her 5yr old brother start to unravel the mysteries of the behavior of the Shesa.
