Acerca de esta escucha

Before the expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the United States stopped at the Mississippi River. However, their journey opened up the wilderness borders to the Pacific Ocean. The key to the success of this 18 month journey was a young Indian girl - Sacajawea. Without her, the corps of discovery would have been doomed from the start.©2001 Joseph Bruchac (P)2003 Audio Bookshelf Ficción Ficción Histórica Historia y Cultura Literatura y Ficción Adulto joven

Some people might enjoy this style of narration. I did not. Few real details of trip really. Just not one of my favs. Still I DID finish it!!!

Poor narration for my ears

My nine year old daughter gave it 5 stars! She enjoyed listening to it! This was a fun way to learn about the history with her.

I enjoyed the characters and the simplicity of the storyline. The author could have given more background information.

A good middle school story

I can't rightly tell you everything that I've loved it what exactly over loved the most in this book, it's ALL great but one thing that is gleaming like a mirror in the sun is that I totally love the (I'll call them) "creative 'word pictures' " that were brought forth to my mind.

Outstandingly written! Read beautifully! 🥰

I loved the story and the history. It took me a bit to get used to the narration as it seems to be directed as story time for kids.

Very enjoyable for the whole family!

An all ages retelling of the historical expedition of Lewis and Clark, featuring key member of the team Sacagawea. Some is naturally fictionalized, but is interwoven with notes from their famous journals. While perhaps not as exciting as a fully fictionalized story, it's a fun way to become better acquainted with this notable event.

This account focuses a bit on the Native American tribes L & C encountered and the significant role played by the young mother & wife who helped them navigate through Nature's challenges, far from the familiar comforts of "civilization."

Some of the narration takes a bit of getting used to. It leaves an impression of the story telling of an oral tradition. If that's a barrier to listening, some might prefer a text version of this book. As the writing shifts between different perspective among the group, the writing style changes, offering a different written voice for each character. I think this story has much to offer in either format, and is worth the listen, especially as part of the included catalog.

well-told historical account with unique narration
