About this listen

Professional goalkeeper Patrick Harrington comes home to the US from England to attend the funeral of his best friend, Navy SEAL Ryan Rosen. Ryan's fiance is the girl who got away, the one he's been in love with ever since he set eyes on her in first grade.

Stephanie Carter's world turns on its axis when Ryan is removed from her life, but not from her heart. Ryan's best friend, Patrick, becomes her path to healing the trident-shaped hole left behind.

Compassion leads to passion as they find the possibility of a life together neither one planned or ever dreamed could exist. But Patrick must follow the calling his buddy Ryan had started. He knows his destiny is on Ryan’s SEAL team.

As he goes through BUD/S, Stephanie wonders if her heart would survive a second loss.

Patrick begins his first deployment to Central Africa, to extract or immobilize a powerful warlord who is terrorizing and spreading his brand of hate. With the outbreak of Ebola, the stakes are suddenly higher. But Patrick will soon learn how interconnected the whole world is. He comes face to face with pure evil and those who want retribution. In the dramatic conclusion, he learns the value of his SEAL brotherhood, and who he’s fighting for.

Drama filled romance

While I enjoyed the book, it was hard for me to really get into the story at first. I just did not like Patrick as he seemed like a carefree, fun loving, athlete who would sleep with anything that was female.

When he and Stephanie got together at Ryan's funeral, I realized that they both had feelings for each other since childhood but they just moved so fast into a relationship and while Patrick was going into the Seals.

I did enjoy the last half of the book as Patrick really started to settle down and did pass that brutal hell week so he could join Kyle's team.

Their mission was pretty interesting and loved the tie in with his replacement on the soccer team and his back story.

The best part for me is when we see the other characters added to the story and it wouldn't be a story without Kyle and Christy!.

Patrick, Stephanie, and Ryan

Ryan, Stephanie, and Patrick were inseparable friends growing up. As a child she wanted to marry them both, until her parents explained that is not an option. As adults, Patrick becomes a professional soccer player. Ryan is a Navy Seal, and was engaged to Stephanie. Unfortunately, Ryan is killed in action. Patrick comes home for the funeral and rediscovers his long-time feelings for Stephanie. Deciding to follow Ryan’s lead, Patrick leaves soccer to become a Seal. Can Stephanie risk marrying another Seal, and him not coming home one day?
The story line is sweet, and tugs on those remembered childhood crush feelings. The characters are well developed, especially Patrick. Narration is naturally flowing, and enjoyable to listen to. Great job with all the voices.

SEAL's Goal a second chance romance

Loved this story. Was new to me as I had not read it before. Patrick joins the Navy after his childhood friend dies as a SEAL. He renews his friendship with Stephanie who was his friend's fiancee. Before joining the SEALs Patrick played European soccer. This is a story of their romance and Patrick getting through BUD/S training. It also details his first assignment on SEAL Team 3. MS Hamilton writes descriptive stories and this is no different.Loved how the story flowed as dictated by JD Hart, very well and is easy to listen to or read.

Just keep trying until you get it right.

Patrick Harrington loved Stephanie Carter since the first grade. She was always the third to their group which included his best friend Ryan Rosen. When they graduated, Ryan went on to become a Navy SEAL while Patrick became a professional goalkeeper. The three friends who thought they would always be together realized life was not always fair when Ryan was killed while being deployed overseas.
Coming home for Ryan’s funeral was a wake up call for Patrick and Stephanie. They eventually realize they still love each other so both of them have some soul searching to do and tough decisions to make, Patrick has a deep need to finish the mission Ryan started and Stephanie is not sure she can survive another broken heart if Patrick does not come back home to her.

Game On

When Patrick decides to give up his soccer career to pursue a career as a Navy SEAL after the death of his friend Ryan. Together with Stephanie, they honor Ryan's memory with their love and service. The narration by J.D. Hart was soothing to hear.

Honoring my friend

The author is a wonderful storyteller and weaves tales full of heartbreak, personal demons and the strength you need to overcome. The characters come to life in each book. Stephanie, Ryan and Patrick grew up together. Stephanie used to joke that she would love to have both Patrick and Ryan as her own. Ryan joined the Seals and was engaged to Stephanie. Ryan dies during deployment, and it is up to Patrick to help heal Stephanie and find love.

good story except for...

I was terribly disappointed when the BIG announcement wasn't made in the ending and Patrick's reaction wasn't written. What an anti-climax that was. It was like a rush to the finish...like Sharon was tired of writing or something.

Another hero is made!

Seal’s Goal: The Beautiful Game written by Sharon Hamilton. It’s a captivating and beautifully sad story about a Patrick, a professional goalkeeper and his journey to become the hero he always wanted to be, all while trying to get Stephanie, the girl of his lifelong dreams. These SEAL books are intense! JD Hart is a wonderful narrator with a voice that soothes my ruptured soul.
