Delightful

The book seems to be a farce as it starts out, but if you stick with it, you’ll find it’s a beautifully written story about life. Quirky, poignant, and surprising.

A fantastic tale of days gone by

This is an amazing tale, full of adventure for a time lost to us forever. It is a glimpse of how men once lived and has darker overtones of greed and exploitation, with a little hope thrown in.

Wonderful coming of age at any age

This is a dreamy, thoughtful, and meditative story. It is told from many different points of view about two friends, coming of age, and how their lives turned out versus what they expected what happened to them. The narrator is excellent. Listening to this made me yearn for the carefree summers of my own childhood.

Excellent story

True you might need to understand the hunting and fishing jargon to fully enjoy the book but that is true in many books. This story is such a joy and very sad and thoughtful all mixed together. All I can say is just relax and enjoy the story
and the two men we grow to know so well.

Great Story!

I am not sure what expectations the negative reviews had for this book but the narrator did a great job at the different character voices. He was not a 2nd hand Broadway actor. Perhaps it was because I am a Fly Fisherwoman myself so I completely understood all of the fishing terminologies , and thats why the book kept my attention. The things I did not understand I researched. I could see this book being a movie! It hit home in several areas for me. The Narrator, (along with the writer) had done an exquisite job on details and I could picture everything in my head. The story line was great and all the books were fluid with one another. I was so into this book I binge listened. I would recomend it to friends .
