About this listen

In northern Uganda, an American special forces team is decimated by a group of normally peaceful farmers. Video of the attack shows even women and children possessing almost supernatural speed and strength, consumed with a rage that makes them immune to pain, fear, and all but the most devastating injuries.

Covert-One's top operative, army microbiologist Colonel Jon Smith, is sent to investigate the attack and finds evidence of a parasitic infection that for centuries has been causing violent insanity and then going dormant. This time, though, it's different. The parasite had been purposely kept alive and crudely transmitted in acts of terrorism. Now the director of Iranian Intelligence is in Uganda trying to obtain this biological weapon to unleash it on the West.

Smith and his team are ambushed and cut off from all outside support just as they begin to suspect that forces much more powerful than the Iranians are in play - forces that can be traced to Washington itself.

Excellent It was worth the wait.

I've read the entire Covert One series and this was no disappointment. It was a real page turner and I found it difficult to find stopping points. I just wanted to keep listening late into the night. Adding one of the series background characters to the Covert One team is a good move. I can see where this will help new novels in the future. This is well worth the credit and time spent listening. I highly recommend it. The narrator did a good job but I would have been happier listening to Dick Hill or Scott Brick.

Good Covert Novel

The book is very interesting and the author is very knowledgeable about Isis and other middle Islamic culture. The only criticism is too many characters with Islamic names. It was difficult for me to keep them straight. But this is a good book! Listen to this book twice to get all the "meat" of the story.

Need different narrator

I would like Jeff Woodman's narration for a different book, however, I could not love these characters the say way that I did with Paul Michael's narration in the previous books. It's almost like watching a movie dubbed from a different language! Bring back the Jon, Peter and Marty we know and love.

Good story, fair narrator

First 5 books were well told, but wondering what happened with narrator (s). Tedious to finish series.

Good book story a little weird

If you could sum up Robert Ludlum's(TM) The Ares Decision in three words, what would they be?

Love covert one

What other book might you compare Robert Ludlum's(TM) The Ares Decision to and why?

I would compare the Covert one series, to the deep black series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I love the covert one series. Dr. John Smith is very fascinating character to follow.

Another great read

What made the experience of listening to Robert Ludlum's(TM) The Ares Decision the most enjoyable?

Having some of the characters introduced in other books make an appearance is great but the 'hero' is always Jon Smith. While the idea of a parasite taking over people & basically making them into a killing machine is a little over the top, it does make for a great book...actually the thought of a disease passed to the human population to wipe enemies out fits in the fears of the people globally in today's world.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Drake & Collins got what they deserved....to disappear.I was glad when it happened to them....I wanted to knock them off myself....

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Unfortunately the length of the audio book made it hard to accomplish that.I did

Any additional comments?

I love to read series books---as long as the books are interesting. Nothing turns a reader off faster than a book that feels like you're drowning in quicksand. Not the case with this series...the story line is interesting enough without being far-fetched and the action is realistic.

If you like Ludlum books u may like this one.

Yes it does have a lot of complications but that is the Ludlum style. It was worth reading but a little too predictable.

Good effort, good story

First book by Kyle Mills I've listened to. Wanted to check him out since he's taking over for Vince Flynn. The story was pretty darn good! But the narration was average. The main character, John Smith, sounded like a boy or sometimes a female during tense parts. Hard to think someone is the real B A when he's performed like that. But, I stuck with it and glad I was from the story's perspective.

Another great Covert One Novel. It's always nice to see old friends come together to Dave the world while meeting new ones.
