About this listen

Chase acts like my defender, but what does he really want? My public humiliation? To keep me friendless and exposed? For my next eight months to be under his control? How about, all of the above?

The Nobles.

We come from high society, but the grooming process starts in high school.

And we always recruit in the dark.

As a result, our messes are rarely clean and never brought to light.

Money's not an issue, and usually, neither are our members.

Until one decides to betray us.

Let this be a lesson to our initiates: Never choose love over loyalty.

And a word to Chase Stone, Briarcliff’s most sought-after student - if you tell the new girl we exist, it won't just be you that pays the price.

Me, the new girl.

Well, crap.

Rival is the first full-length novel in the Briarcliff Society Series and contains enemies-to-lovers, bullying, and other mature themes. Recommended for listeners 17 and over. It is not a stand-alone and ends on a cliff-hanger.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Intriguing!

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. This is the first book of the “Briarcliff Secret Society” series and what an intriguing start it is. Addison Barnes is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the characters and storylines she created are interesting and original. Callie Ryan’s step-dad and guardian remarried into money, his new wife Lynda got Callie a spot in an exclusive high school, Briarcliff Academy, for her senior year. Callie was not thrilled about transferring to a new school but was not given a choice. Her first day of school was disastrous, the popular, and the elite were not very welcoming and they confronted her. One guy caught her eye, though he was elusive to her and seemed put off. Chase Stone is one of the leaders of the pack of students who rule the school. Chase Stone seems to be the leader of the popular crowd and students who rule the school. Chase was a bit of a mystery to Callie, sometimes he seemed to be nice to her, other times he just turned a cold shoulder. She saw how close he was with her roommate, Piper, and assumed the two were in a relationship. But nothing is what it seems in this book, there is a lot going on behind the scene and it is quite a puzzle. The author does a great job keeping you on your toes and wondering what is going on, every hint dropped raises more questions, in the end we do get some answers but those answer lead to more questions. This is a great bully, enemies to lovers romance, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, heartfelt and emotional moments and a slow burn start to a hot romance. Ketley Allison, thank you for this terrific story and emotional rollercoaster ride.I am looking forward to what comes next in this intriguing series.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Addison Barnes is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She had a complete understanding of the characters she portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona perfectly, sounding believable and just as I pictured the character to sound. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this terrific listen.

I don’t get it!

Besides the narration, there is nothing here to hold my interest. I tried really hard to find a morsel of something but alas I am over this. I want a refund.
