About this listen

New York Times & USA Today best-selling author!

Dreaming of Alethea gave Jeremy Kater the strength to survive a difficult childhood. Now that he has influential friends who owe him some big favors, he's determined to become the kind of man Alethea would be interested in: rich and dangerous. Jeisa Borreto was hired to help Jeremy morph into that man. It's a job she would enjoy, if it weren't tearing her heart to pieces.

How can she help him change once she's realized she's fallen in love with the man he's always been?

Hint: Sleeping with him doesn't help.

Sometimes love is a lot closer than you think.

Where does Rise of the Billionaire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is one of my top favorites. Ruth Cardello has a way with writing her billionaires that draws you in and make you a part of the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jeisa Borreto is my favorite, because she defied her father in order to step out on her own in the first place. Sure she got into some trouble, but it was brave of her to follow her heart and go to America to find her place in the world.

Which character – as performed by Kim Bubbs – was your favorite?

Once again, Jeisa Borreto, was my favorite. Though I miss the sound of real male voices, and sometimes she makes the women sound a little childish, Kim Bubbs has a way with accents that is truly enchanting. I don't know how she keeps all of them straight when she's reading through a book. She really is precise.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My favorite moment was when Jeremy appeared at Jeisa's office door, and they made up. That entire scene is wickedly erotic, romantic and sweet.

Any additional comments?

This was one of my favorite stories, because the author has a way of making even the background characters important enough to write love for them. She is a genuine talent and has a spicy romantic soul. Can't wait to see what she does next.

Audible made Jeremy's Story even better

What made the experience of listening to Rise of the Billionaire the most enjoyable?

I love the sound of the story teller. I can hear the words clearly and understand them well.

What did you like best about this story?

I like how the story teller capture the emotion when she's reading the dialogue. It made the story felt more real for me.

Have you listened to any of Kim Bubbs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes. I have a couple of other books from the same series by the same audible narrator. I really love the sound of her voice. Though I must say, the way she said the dialogues of the heroine in this novel sound a bit awkward for me. Maybe because she was trying to sound brazilian? I'm not really sure which but compared to her other audible narration, I find Jeisa's dialogues soundng a bit awkward.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The part where she was narrating the moment when Alethea messed up Jeremy's proposal. The emotions it held when I was listening to it was a bit more intense than when I was reading it.

Any additional comments?

So far, I can say that I truly enjoyed listening to Kim Bubbs.

The Come Up- Cinderfella

I liked Jeisa’s accent. I found Jeremy refreshingly honest and upfront. He brought balance to Jake Dominic’s friendship. This trope is a lot like the book Reid by Melanie Moreland. Computer geek goes chic gets the girl, gwap, and the respect of the alpha set.

Didn't Care for the Audio. Story was Good!

I did not like Jeisa at all. I almost stopped reading this book around the time she and Jeremy were talking about going to the Andrades for the holidays. The only reason I pushed through was because I liked Jeremy's character so much.

Jeremy was socially awkward, sweet, confused, kind, intelligent, witty and out right funny. I hoped he got the girl because I liked him. I liked that Jeremy had little to no fear of life or the people around him. I enjoyed his back and forth with Dominic and Jake. I like the relationship he had with Marie.

My dislike for Jeisa and Althea was almost on par, but with Althea, I expected to not like her. I noticed she seemed to be a tad redeemable. I figure the writer has her work cut out for her to make Althea likable. I also laughed during the scenes where the whole gang was together. Some of the tech speak was familiar and some was way over my head, but it did not distract from the story or my enjoyment of it.

Even part of the airplane scene with Jeremy and Jeisa was entertaining. He was so geeky and methodical in his pursuit of her. I liked all of the other characters, Dom & Abby, Jake & Lil, Marie, Richard & Maddy, the Andrades and even the doorman. This was a 4.5 read for me.

I stopped listening to the narration and switched over to the book. It really didn't add anything to the story. The accent given to Jeisa was different. I couldn't tell you if it was accurate or not. Other than that, the narration was kind of meh.

DNF

This sounded like a fun story, and the concept does have potential but I was so bored and also annoyed. The story starts where Jeisa and Jeremy have already been together for months.. she's already decided she loves him. We don't get to see them meet or any of the experiences that made them close. He evidently has loved another woman since he was young and wants to change for her. Shortly after this story starts Jeisa decides since Jeremy is off with the woman he wants, it's time to quit, her job is done. But when she tells him she's has quit she also decides to kiss him. Then he get's mad, then asks for a week to see who he wants. Um, ack..So , they have been together for months but he wants a week to find out who he wants ? That would be a no thanks for me. She agrees and on their first date, he wants to have sex, doesn't want to have sex, wants to have sex, thinks he loves the other woman, Jeisa tells him she loves him, he doesn't respond because he doesn't feel the same way.. which he tells her.. she decides to have sex with him anyway, then he decides he loves her but doesn't tell her... all on this same first date, well, I read a little more after that but this was a completely annoying story. I didn't like either character, the set up was boring and I decided I just didn't care about either of these characters and I was wasting my time. The narration was a little grating for me also, I have heard other women narrators who can do a man's voice enough that I am swooning, but this is not that at all...
