Ich bin ein verdammt guter Center, bin mit meinen fünfundzwanzig Jahren auf dem besten Weg, der meistgetradete Spieler der Liga zu werden. In fünf Jahren habe ich sechs Mal das Team gewechselt, deswegen wohne ich ausschließlich im Hotel.
Das ist in Boston nicht anders. Allerdings freunde ich mich zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben mit einer Frau an ... und beginne, ihr mehr von mir zu erzählen. Auch, warum ich nicht sesshaft werde oder dass ich nur deswegen vor jedem Spiel dusche, damit ich ungehört singen kann.
Christine hat einfach etwas an sich. Die Wahrheiten purzeln nur so aus mir heraus; mit ihr zusammen zu sein, fühlt sich verflucht gut an. Dass es zwischen uns knistert, lässt sich schon bald nicht mehr leugnen. Dumm nur, dass sie die Nichte des General Managers ist.
Am Ende ist es egal, unsere Freundschaft-Plus wird ein Geheimnis bleiben, weil ich ohnehin wieder getradet werde. Das ist so sicher wie das Amen in der Kirche.
Früher war das nie ein Problem für mich, doch zum ersten Mal will ich bleiben.
