About this listen

Pages torn from a journal... brutal murders... dark, ugly secrets. Jess Harris has a new case, one that is sure to shake the very foundation of Birmingham's wealthy and powerful. More than a decade ago the "Five" had it all. In twenty-four hours they would graduate and head off to their Ivy League destinations. Except one last midnight celebration ended in death, and now, twelve years later, someone wants revenge.

Determining exactly who is out for revenge is the easy part; stopping him before someone else dies has Jess and her team working overtime.

As Jess uncovers the truth and solves the case, she receives a package from the Player, the serial killer obsessed with her. He is about to start a new game and she just got her invitation to play.

Good Story,Bad Narrator

I continue listening to this series because I enjoy the story and the characters. However, the narrator's depiction of the male characters' voices is awful and her attempts to distinguish the female characters fails. Worst of all is what the narrator obviously believes is a southern drawl and it is horribly done, as is the attempts at depicting the "snooty upper class women."

Please, a little less drawl, it's way over the top! Otherwise great book and even better series.

great book. .must read

some of the accents are a bit cheesy though and at points they can become distracting.

Narrator

I hate to hear someone try to talk with a southern accent . Narration would be so much better, if they read without that obviously FAKE accent!

Will bullies get their comeuppance years later?

Birmingham PD Chief Detective Jess Harris, and her small team of the new Special Crimes Unit, is dealing with bullying...at least, what appears to be the repercussions. 12 yrs ago, a group of 5 wealthy teens spent their last year of high school tormenting 2 nerdy kids. Then one 'nerd' walked off the roof of a building in an apparent suicide. Now someone seems to be killing off the 5...is this revenge? Not to mention that the serial killer Spears is taunting Jess once more.
Another great book by this author...definitely worth the read/listen.
