While the child at her breasts was really hers, the husband by her side…not so much. John and Jennifer Johnson shared the same innocuous last name—second most common in the United States—but he was not the father of her son, nor the love of her life.

The Johnsons had a dog they called Buddy, the second most popular dog name in the country. Tall as a Great Dane with the snout of a Collie, the markings of a Siberian Husky, and the thick coat of a wolf with one blue eye and one brown, that dog watched the baby as if he was operating some kind of military operation. It was adorable.

Buddy wasn't fixed though, something noted on by the homeowners association. A discussion ensued as to whether he was even allowed to be in the neighborhood, such a large hairy dog with such big balls. Is that what Hidden Bush was all about?

The husband though, everyone liked him. Tall, fit, and handsome, he had beers with the men and helped women with their groceries. He said they'd chosen this community because they liked it, which made people feel good about the Johnsons. They could live anywhere, and they'd chosen Hidden Bush…that said something good about the neighborhood for sure. For absolute sure.

The wife was a bit odd though, everyone had to admit it. And they did, as often as possible. She ran more than was probably healthy. Nursed that baby still…and it was 10 months now, the boy was walking.

The Johnsons never went on dates. Seemed like Mrs. Johnson didn't ever leave that baby. Many women suspected that Mr. Johnson needed to be saved from his wife…but to be truthful, they needed to be saved from their own marriages and were really just projecting.

After all, the Johnsons were a lie, remember?

I LOVE THIS SERIES

By far my favorite part is the reader. She really has a talent for accents, emotions, and the overall energy of a novel.

The book (really the whole series) is such a rollercoaster of emotions and plot twists. I haven't predicted much of anything in this series. I have been so emotionally invested in these books, I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the next detail. and now I have to decide, am I waiting for the next audiobook? or do I just go buy the physical book because I can't wait?

*sigh* obviously I'm going to do both.

Definitely a series worth reading. I hope you try it. Definitely not a waste of anybody's time. it's fun, relaxing, engaging, and worth sharing and discussing.

Can’t wait to read the next one

This is one of my favorites of the series I love her riding and the content so very cathartic

Enchanting

The author’s writing is hypnotic and impossible to put down. This installment is action packed and has a lot of twists and turns I didn’t see coming.

Bad Ass!

I love the “feminine toxicity” of this character. I’m listening to the audiobooks, and the narrator does a great job.

Also disappointed

The story line went nowhere and then it just dropped off...There was a story of sorts. It felt like a whole book got cut in half...half of the story in this book...half when you buy the next book.

The story doesn't progress much

I've enjoyed the series, and Sydney Rye is one of my favorite characters. However, the last couple of books advance the story very little, and resolve nothing. It's aggravating, and the lack of resolution makes me angry. Furthermore, for all the bad-assery that is Sydney Rye, it is ridiculous that she allows herself to be manipulated by every sexy man she sleeps with (or wants to).

I'm not spending any more money on Sydney Rye. That said, I look forward to any books narrated by Sonja Field.

slowest most boring book.

I loved the whole series, this one is a great place for me to end it. It was mostly reliving the past, allot of filler.

Disappointed

I am so happy for the next installment of this series. The performance is exceptional as usual. I am just disappointed in the actual story. Seems weak to me compared to the other books. Feels like filler… or a book just released to keep the series running until a book with more meat can be released. I love the series and I am still a fan of Sydney Rye… just not of this book.
