About this listen

Anyone, as Freud tells us in "Reflections on War and Death", forced to react against his own impulses may be described as a hypocrite, whether he is conscious of it or not. One might even venture to assert - it is still Freud's argument - that our contemporary civilization favors this sort of hypocrisy and that there are more civilized hypocrites than truly cultured persons, and it is even a question whether a certain amount of hypocrisy is not indispensable to maintain civilization.©2017 SAGA Egmont (P)2017 SAGA Egmont War

Narrator's affect is truly depressing..

Freud is great but the narrator's voice makes me want to kill myself! Perhaps he was chosen by a non English-speaking person. Sorry Mr. Wittkower but who knows how many lives have been lost because of your instrument! Actually, if you turn the read speed to 1.25 it's much better, even though it may always be said, war and death is a good reason to feel depressed.
