About this listen

Escaping from the attentions of the Bondsmagi Locke Lamora, the estwhile Thorn of Camorr and Jean Tannen have fled their home city. Taking ship they arrive in the city state of Tal Varrar where they are soon planning their most spectacular heist yet; they will take the luxurious gaming house, The Sinspire, for all of its countless riches.

No-one has ever taken even a single coin from the Sinspire that wasn't won on the tables or in the other games of chance on offer there.

But, as ever, the path of true crime rarely runs smooth and Locke and Jean soon find themselves co-opted into an attempt to bring the pirate fleet of the notorious Zamira Drakasha to justice. Fine work for thieves who don't know one end of galley from another. And all the while the Bondsmagi are plotting their very necessary revenge against the one man who believes e has humiliated them and lived; Locke Lamora.

As amazing as the first

Not much more i can add others haven't already. An instant classic with expert narration. The ebbs and flows of victory and disaster constantly keep you enthralled.

Character based Fantasy in a low magic word

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Liked the first one, try the second. the voice actor can actually do a voice, and the fantasy world gives us interesting characters doing interesting things in a dark and gritty world.

What other book might you compare Red Seas Under Red Skies to and why?

The first law trilogy

Have you listened to any of Michael Page’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just as good as the first book in the series. The lies of lock lamore

A refreshing story!

I was a bit worried that the second installment in this series would be more of the same. However, the scene and setting changed quite drastically and had its usual witty reparté, so I enjoyed it.
Has me looking forward to the third book.

Well Thought Through

Would you listen to Red Seas Under Red Skies again? Why?

I just might, because this book, unlike the last book (Do NOT read the last book of the series), is well thought through. Even though the annoying flashbacks that (that are supposed to give character background) are STILL coming in this book (even though half of the first book was dedicated to this), the main story is AWESOME.
It's fresh, based on logic instead of action and wanton destruction and the likes.

What other book might you compare Red Seas Under Red Skies to and why?

Hmm.. This is a stretch, but I'd say Roger Zelazny's 9 Princes of Amber, simply because of the logic and the thought given to the story and the world. The stories are not similliar atall though, and I can't think of any other book I've read with a story simillar to Red Seas Under Red Skies.

What about Michael Page’s performance did you like?

Michael delivered this story with the same great performance as the last book. He's not my favorite narrator, but he's good. No question about that :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Oh yes, but I'm not putting any spoilers here :)

Any additional comments?

WARNING: The last book lacks a story! There is NONE. I would recomend you stop reading after this book, and you'll have a great ending to the series. Don't ruin it by reading the third book!

Good but somewhat dissappinting

As in the first book, we get lots of clever and interesting schemes and tricks, and there's fascinating and detailed worldbuilding. However, the general plot line is very similar to the first book and feels unoriginal. I enjoyed this very much, but the place it went dissapointed me, and I finish the book feeling a bit unsatisfied. As for the narrator, he is excellent and very fun to listen to!

incredibly entertaining

its really good. Following locke is very interesting. story wise though this is a slow read at a few points. which is why im giving it 4stars instead of 5. the plot moves slowly before it suddenly takes off quicker than a rat. the reader
